I have just recently picked up a NX100 on a whim (I have 3 Canon DSLRs). It was really to carry with me on a school camp as I was going to be walking up a steep volcanic island a couple of times in the week. It made for a light hiking kit with the 20-5-mm. My 30mm is not too far away.

I tried the Panasonic DMW-FL28 which I had picked up some time ago. It seems to work very well. The camera is set to manual (iso 100, 60th, f4 or f5.6) and the flash to automatic mode (f4 or f5.6) then shoot away without any further need to adjust.

The size is ideal and there is good power for most indoor shots.

How do you connect to the camera, since it is not a Samsung flash?

Just via camera hotshoe - it has just a central pin for using in auto mode as described above.

Just be careful you don't upgrade the Firmware to V1.12. Yiou may be lucky, but it knocks out use of lots of non-Samsung flash systems.

I think a lot of the firmware upgrades on the Samsung NX models do the same thing.

I use an old Chinon Auto-thyristor flash. Which works well on the NX100 in a similar way. But I bought a 2nd NX100 for my wife and checked having upgraded the Firmware that it doesn't work on her version.

I updated to the latest firmware quite recently and it is version 1.12
Maybe Samsung likes Panasonic?
