Some B&W - what do you think?

I would have really enjoyed the flower ones, if it weren't for whatever effect you have beneath the black and white. did you apply something to alter the edges of the flowers? or am I seeing strange things??

I also really like the third shot. I'm always a fan of rocky textures in b&w.
 
It appeared automatically during the PP, in LR3 when messing around with the yellow luminance. I thought that at the end was a small compromise for a better balanced B&W photo.

I find that darkened border treatment very distracting, especially when it cuts into elements of the composition such as the tip of the spire in the second image.
 
The compositions and exposures look good. However I too find the translucent border very bothersome and distracting.
