Just got my D100 5 days ago and still learning.
Can SB80DX use AA rechargable NiMH (1600mAh) batteries?
By using SB80DX, will EN-EL3 last longer?

B,
Can SB80DX use AA rechargable NiMH (1600mAh) batteries?
Absolutely - I wouldnt recommend anything else (I use 1700's)
By using SB80DX, will EN-EL3 last longer?
Makes no difference.

(and congrats !)

Thanks Mr. Simon. If you use 1700mAh, will it last longer than normal batteries? I am planning to ger SB80DX next week but need to know more about it.

B,

Sorry I should have made myself clearer. The point I was making was that use NiMHd in your SB-80DX if you can. These batteries are fully rechargeable and provide an excellent (and cheaper) long term solution.

You could use "ordinary" batteries but you'd go thru them frightfully fast and this would end up costing a load.

Do a search for Nickel metal hydride batteries and you'll find they are a good solution. Unfortunately they wont work on the D100 body, EN-EL3's are your best choice here.

regards,

Thanks. I am clear now. Actually, I have a few 1600mAh NiMH batteries. I am still very new to SLR and D100. Still fighting with the cool and blue photos taken with D100. I don't have these problems in my previous point and shot DC.

B,

We are here to help and share ... when you say "still fighting" .. "cool and blue photos" - are you have problems with some settings ?

Post some samples - there's loads of people here that will help out.

It sounds (without seeing any samples) that your colour space or white balance may be set incorrectly.

Anyway post a sample and we'll have a look

regards,

WB AUTO
ISO 200
Tone comp AUTO
EV0
Auto flash comp 0EV
Colour mode 3
Hue adjustment 0
Sharpening HIGH
1/60, f4.5 shooting with P mode.

I have reduced photo image reduced to 39.1KB (instead of 2.8MB file). But how do I do attachment in this forum?

However, I have tried today:
WB Cloud
ISO 400
Tone comp AUTO
EV+0.7
Auto flash comp 0EV
Colour mode 3
Hue adjustment 0
Sharpening AUTO
1/60, f8 shooting with A mode.
The result looks better. Maybe setting Hue to 1 will be better.

Thanks

B,

You will need place the photo on a web Server (or PBase etc) and imbed a link to the photo file in your message like:

(this link is just a sample too)

Then when people view your message, the link is reolved when the message is being displayed by your browser - and shows the image in the message.

hi,

It took me some time, but the D100 deliberately underexposes, this for some good reasons. For example, you have less blow outs in the bright aerias, if you use photoshop, you can edit the picture with auto colours or contrast, you will see that he picture wakes up!

A better solution though is to use custum curves. With Nikon capture 3.5 you can copy a curve in to your camera (Nicon capture is optional, but can can try it for 30 days).

Click on the link, you can download the curves here:

http://www.jtgraphics.net/all_digital.htm

I would suggest that you just try the different curves, and see wich one is best for you. You can play and do some bracketing to see wich settings are suitable.

There is much information on the net over the D100 see:

http://www.niconians.com
http://www.bythom.com

Good luck if you have any questions, don't hesitate.
