My Aunt is coming from Australia. She lives in Brisbane. She want me to buy a gift. So i'm planing to buy a lens or a flash. Can you send me some links. If possible i want to place the order myself because she is not good with cameras.

Just type in Google, ( camera shops Australia ) ,there's one large shop that is in Brisbane but I don't think we are aloud to name it, I will just say it has digital and camera and warehouse in its mane. I have used them and found them to be vary good on all fronts.

Many people I know here in Australia order their camera gear from abroad (U.S.) or buy it when overseas. Depending on the brand, cameras and lenses can be 50 % to 100 % more expensive than e.g. in the U.S. Much of the web camera stores with reasonable prices bypass the official Australian importer to avoid the ridiculous local prices.

Please check the prices against U.S. prices before having your aunt buy anything. If there is a problem having stuff delivered to your country, you could have your purchases sent from U.S. to your aunt. For camera gear, e.g. adorama.com will deliver to Australia (amazon.com has deals with some manufacturers not to send to Australia.)

In general, you should completely disregard any suggestion that prices elsewhere are 50% to 100% cheaper than Australia. This applies only for the smallest things. For cameras and lenses, the prices are about on par with other places, and if your aunt purchases in Australia and leaves within 30 days, she can claim back the 10% GST which is included in any price on an Australian website.

Decide what you want, then look around the Australian stores. Digidirect in Sydney is good. Check first for availability and then order. Explain it is for someone traveling OS who will be claiming the GST back, and tell them that it is essential that she receive the goods before she leaves.

Also check for prices for the same item from your local suppliers to make sure you are getting a reasonable deal.

Cheers, geoff

If your reported location is correct, it really does not matter to you if it's local "AU" stock or imported stuff - you will not have local warranty at your place. Buying from a good, reputable online store helps, as you will have "send-back" warranty.

Though this place is not in Brisbane, rather Sydney, their online shop is the same and I can only say good things about them (but it matters for me as I tend to buy in "real" shop.

They are called d-d-photographics (com-au) and check their pricing: yes, they are imports but they back everything with their warranty. The pricing is OK and very competitive to above mentioned big online stores, just located here in Oz.I am in no way affiliated with them, just a happy customer willing to recommend it to others.

All the best.
