In a petrol station in italy they were selling a portable invertr from a brand who feel electric product for car, very similar in shape to the one produced by paul buff. the specification tell 300 w with peak of 600 watt.

i have some moonlight from elinchrom , and i planned to buy the ranger quadra. So my budget is all for quadra, i don't wanna sound 400 for an inverter.

Do you think this inverter can fire my Dlite 4? i don't expect miracle, but it cost 72 euro, if ihe can shoot a elite at medium power for 3 400 shot i think it will be nice to add.

I tried using a standard inverter with my White Lightnings. Didn't work. I think you would need a "pure sine wave" inverter, which costs more. Make sure it has plenty of wattage, too.

It might FRY it, but likely not fire it reliably for long.

There is a difference between power inverters. Learn the terminology and the specs. Education and experimentation is your option.

Don't just plug in any inverter on your dlite.

The output voltage of the inverter must be pure sine wave or as clean as what you get from your wall socket. Otherwise you will end up sending your compacts to a repair station.

Also, dlites are bi-voltage units and some models detects the operating voltage and if gets "confused", it will cause the relays to flip back and forth, again, damaging your compacts.
There are a lot of available battery packs for strobes in the market.
