One of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen

Beautiful image -- thanks for posting.
John

Yes they are real gems . They come from the Northern Territory in Australia around an outback area called Katherine Gorge . They are a knockout in the wild with three different head colours occuring naturally . Black head the most common , red next then yellow being rare . There is a problem with this birds beak . The overhanging upper beak is abnormal and the bird is proberly not getting enough Cuttle bone or similal to keep his beak in good condition . This problem will eventually kill him because he will not be able to pick up seed easily .
Regards Anthony .

Anthony have you ever seen one with a red beak before, could this also be a problem?

All I want is a digital back for my trusty K1000 . . .

I think it has a spectacular collection of rare birds and I believe they are well-cared for. It is quite a different experience than the Pittsburgh Zoo/Aquarium but I personally enjoy the Aviary at least as much.

I go there quite frequently so I will bring up the points you raised the next time I am there. Thanks for the info.

Yes, this is one of the official logo birds of Viewsonic (I used to own a Viewsonic monitor and one of the birds was this little guy).
