I placed an order at J&R and they said D800 will be available on March 21. Anyone can get a copy before that date?

I paid $2999.99 before 5% discount. I can get 5% bonus if through ShopDiscover.

If you'd like, I could do a happy dance for you. Other than that, why are you posting this? Also, your second sentence does not sound grammatically correct. Please clarify it. Thanks so much.

If you placed an order more than a few days after the initial announcement, you may not get a D800 for a while due to the limited initial supply. I wouldn't be counting on being able to take it on a trip.

Um, do you remember the other day when you proudly announced the you were first of the list at some camera shop and that you would be sure to start a thread when you got an email or your camera or something? Then you informed everyone to only start threads if they too were first on the list, and not to start threads for example of they were second or third or three-hundredth. Now you are giving others grief?

Why? Is this a contest?
I'll have a trip early April and would like to take it with me.
Ok, so why are you asking if anyone can get D800 sooner? Going to cancel your order or your trip?

so rude..and non-professional manner
No idea what this means.

I am not a professional photographer or a professional form poster.

You told random people here about your pre-order and asked random people if anyone could get one sooner? How could someone here get one sooner?

If you want a camera close to the release date you should never order from big camera stores. Even if you ordered as soon as they went up, they have preferred customers that are way in front of you. I always order stuff I want from small to medium local camera stores in several parts of the country I have lived. Since I have been a good customer with the three I use for decades they always give me the first one they get. While they don't get 100s they do get 2-5 and since I only want 1 it works fine. Any new camera I have wanted I always got from one of these stores at the earliest possible date. Right now I will get a D800, 5D Mark III, D4 and 1DX if I want. I will probably pass on the D4 as it sounds like a real mess of a design with the joystick changing the focus point when it rubs against your body. It remains to be seen if the same will be true of the Canon 1DX as it has their version of the joystick nubs..

Kind of ironic how the 5D Mark III just happens to have the same sale release date as the D800.. Also very strange how both the D4 and 1DX dates keep slipping. Only guess would be both have significant issues.. The D4 now April and the 1DX now May.. What was the original February for the D4 and March for the 1DX....
