P-51D Mustang "Excalibur": An oldie, but a goodie.

Nice shots. That is one polished plane!

A little side story regarding the P-51. Several years ago I was working on the roof of my house when a P-51 came flying fairly low overhead and at a fairly slow speed (there was an air show scheduled at Offut AFB the following day, so I assume this guy was joyriding the day before the show). The deep throbbing sound of that plane's engine even at that low speed/rpm literally sent chills up and down my spine. It exuded a raw power from a previous era still anxious to be unleashed. Jets are clearly more powerful, but there is just something uniquely "organic" and alive with an old horse like this.
