After a long time of decision making and trying to figure out what to buy in the sea of digital cameras available today on the market, I've spent my money on a brand new Canon Powershot S45.
My decision was based on dpreview's review of the camera and the fact that I've missed one big opportunity ( back in August, when I found out that the C-3040 was on sale for 415€ ) to buy the Olympus digital camera.
I've searched on the Internet for prices in the shops in Austria, Germany, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. Germany was tthe only source to buy it with a decent price, but a week ago I've found on "groups.google.com" Usenet archive, that there is maybe one shop in Ljubljana, Slovenia, with a price similar to the one in Germany.
Yesterday, I went to Ljubljana and bought the S45 for 130 000 Slovenian Tolars, app. 565€, without the slovenian DDV ( added value tax ) which refunds for all the people who don't live in Slovenia. The store name is "www.gambit.si".
Just for the record, I've found out that the cheapest shops in Germany are: fotoking.de, fotokoch.de and computer-universe.net ( price range is app. 665-710€ ); Italy is very expensive, Austria too. In my town in Croatia, the price for the S45 was
around 700 €.
For another 30€ I've got a 6in1 USB Flash Card Reader ( manufactured by digitus.de ).
I'm very pleased with the quality of the first few shots done yesterday in old town of Ljubljana and today during the afternoon.
In a one week time I'll buy another 64 or 128MB CF card.
Thanks to all of you, for providing me with all the useful information.
