Hello All,

Just saw this via Leica Camera's twitter stream. The firmware update is available for download at the D-Lux 5 page under Updates. Here's the link to the page:

I haven't updated my camera yet - has anyone else done it? Is it an easy process (the step-by-step instructions imply it is)?

Hello There:

Thanks for mentioning the Leica D-L5 Firmware update.I managed to download it from the Leica Web site. The instructions are for PC.and not for the iMac unless you have the latest iMac desktop, since they have an SD card slot.My 24' iMac does not have this card slot. They want you to put the down loaded file and drag it in the SD card ,Put the card into the camera and download.Anyone who has an idea how to do this on a iMac?
Thank You For posting the result.JB.

Hi John,

surely your iMac has an USB-slot ? You can use an USB card reader for your SD cards.

Kind regards.

Hi John,

My computer (iMac) has the SD card slot built in, but Bart's comment about using an SD reader is a good one. (I think I read similar in the installation instructions.)

I set out to update this morning, but I'm finding the .bin file is much larger than it should be as per the instructions. My file is 16.3 MB and they say it should be 15.874 KB. They state that if the file size is different, re-download the firmware file. I've done that a few times, and I'm still getting the same 16.3 MB file. So I've put off updating for now until I can figure out why the files differ.

Do you have a large format photos to print larger than A4? And how was the quality?

Hi Candis,

I think it's safe to assume 16.3 Mb is about the same as 15,874 Kb.

Kind regards.

Hello SilenrocKunst,

I haven't tried printing any photos from the D-lux 5 yet, so not sure about the print quality. Sorry!

Hi there SilenrocKunst,

Not sure you'll see this, but wanted to mention that I've recently had some prints made in 8x10 inch format of photos taken with the DL5 and I'm very impressed with the quality (colour, sharpness, etc.). Cheers!
