How does one take a HDR photo with the 5N? After 1 day with the thing, I'm getting use to the menu system but can't figure out how to do HDR. Usually I shoot raw. I turn raw off and I still can't figure it out. I'm not nocking the camera. It fits well in my hand. I'm just finding the menu system confusing.

Thanks

Thanks, and I did see this in the manual. I guess I was looking for something telling me I was in HDR mode and there is nothing on the screen that says this. I'm really finding the menu system challenging. I did hear 3 shutter clicks so I guess I took an HDR pic.

Thanks
JAW

When you go to the menu and scroll through Drange, HDR options, note that one of your buttons should say "options"

Push that and you can determine how much range you want the HDR to have.

Then when you shoot, it will take a 0EV exposure, save it, and then snap your other EV exposures, and combine them for HDR. Thus, each shoot should result in two captured images, allowing you to instantly compare and determine if you need to go back to options and designate a wider EV range.

I may be wrong but the screen does show when in her mode. It depends on what display mode you are in. Maybe press the top circle button and change the display modes. I might be wrong, I don't have the camera with me to check.

Can anyone tell me if the 5n can use 4 exposures in HDR mode or is it always 3?I was doing some longer night exposures in HDR 5-6EV & it sounded like 4 clicks, its a bit hard to tell as the first few are relatively short.I was using Photomatix with my last camera & feel I may use auto bracket with it & the 5n as I like the effect it gives HDR compared to sonys in camera version. When I have time I think shooting manually in RAW & using Photomatix may be the best for controlling HDR captures.

Only 3 OOTB.

I agree that shooting manually is the best option for HDR. Horrendous blunder to only have 0.7EV AEB!

At least they could have saved the RAW images when using HDR...
