The Defunct D3 still works!

I can't follow you that with the introduction of each new model of pro cameras, the earlier model will stop functioning.I think it will advesely affect the reputation of Nikon as a leading manufaturer.
It is something we call sarcasm. ;-)

Yes it would but would make income for the business just think ever time a new model is released every one will have to buy a new one HMMMMMM (that why I am not in Business)
American car companies tried that strategy in the 1960's. It was called planned obsolescence. It allowed the Japanese to walk all over them for decades. Several government bailouts later, and they are only now beginning to recover.

Scott,

the one where the eye looks across the industrial floor to the open toilet room - is Classic !
I liked that too. I once visited a precious metal plating company. It resembled something out of the three witches scene in Macbeth. The toilet there was streaked all over in the rainbow colours of the solutions they used. And the walls, and the ceiling. Would have made a nice shot.

I am stunned that my D3 can still produce photos I was under the impression that any thing other then the D4/D800 was no longer usable LOL.

Here is the proof.

So how long can I expect my D3 to keep going now these new cameras have been announced?

Cheers

Yes, I just shot 36 girls headshots with my D3 today. Worked quite well. I will keep using it even after my D800 arrives.

I also have a D800 on order but I can see my self using the D3 for a long time to come when the situation calls for it.

Quality images Scott, well done - and if you scroll fast on number five - the gears move - almost as good as staring at a lava lamp back in the day of Jimi, Janis & hemp.

The Nikon D3 is the last purely photographic (No newfangled video) professional camera made by Nikon and as such I am expecting its secondhand value to soar soon.

Well eventually anyway :-)

Steve.

My D2x still works too.......amazing!

Was that directed to me?
You can always check "Threaded View" if you are not sure. Yes, to you in particular... and everyone else spending time watermarking their low res images, so I guess one could consider it a general rant.

I like #4. Window highlights are a little too strong, a tighter shot a bit to the right would be better, chroma noise can be cleaned, you could have used a tripod etc., but cool anyway. Thank you for posting.

Far enough I have just started doing the watermarks if it stops the causal miss use of my photos it make me happy if you do like it so be it you will have to learn to live with it on my shots or just don't look at my post what ever makes you happy

The areas to shoot from are very limited as I said earlier it is a Museum set up so you are in areas which are sectioned off and no tripods are allowed which is unfortunate because the shots would be fantastic with a tripod, so I did the best I could do in a limited area. But thanks for the tips anyway.
