B&H shipping NEX7 bodies

I phoned in a preorder for NEX7 body on Thursday to B&H. I was told they hoped to ship by end of March. I checked the order status just now. I have a tracking number and a camera on the way! Holy smokes! I guess I better get an order in for some lenses. The web site still says temporarily out of stock. Forget the web site and get on the phone if you want this camera.
 
I just called. The gent said they were expecting the bodies in two weeks, but I ordered it anyway. I've about given up on my local brick and mortar store. Talk about misplaced loyalty; if I get it through my local dealer I'd have to play sales tax, not so with B&H. Fingers crossed.

Wish you good luck! It seems more and more NEX-7's are coming so it is likely that you'll get yours within 2wks!
Nothing fair or unfair....I'm jealous.

You know, I sort of got that feeling when I talked to the sales representative. I asked him when he thought the bodies would arrive and he quickly snapped back "two weeks." Based on all the hemming and hawing we've seen discussed here I was pleasantly surprised at his response.

In my opinion, this camera is probably no more than a month away from normal availability. The dark clouds appear to be dispersing!
 
I just had a surprising experience with B&H. Surprisingly bad. I called to ask about the NEX-7, and the guy not only gave me bad information, but he gave me a ton of bad attitude to go along with it. His name was "JR", and he told me "the factories are still under water. They're not even making NEX-7's yet." When I (politely)mentioned that they've been showing up in the marketplace, even from B&H, he just hung up on me.

I've been doing a lot of business with B&H over the years. I hate to let one bad experience ruin the relationship, but unless my kit preorder with B&H comes through way before the others, I know which one I'll be canceling. In the future, I'll be going to Abt.com. Their service has been impressive. They even emailed me with an offer to lend me another camera ubtil the NEX-7 came in, and I've never spent a dime with them in the past. B&H really turned me off.

I am very sorry you had this unsatisfactory experience and I appreciate your letting me know. I will share this with the relevant sales manager here.

While I understand this was off-putting I do hope you will not allow one unpleasant experience to ruin the relationship we've established over the years too.

Not to take away from the poster's dis-satisfaction (which has to be a very isolated incident) but I (and I'll bet most of us) have had a stellar customer service relationship with B&H.

I'm sure the poster will get straightened out on this, but just wanted to jump in and give the store kudos for what I consider one of (if not the ) best customer service operations of any vendor I deal with.

Thank you. I appreciate this but IMO the reason we deserve your kudos is we take reports like jimkohn's seriously and try to take steps to see they're not repeated.

I'm a "good-better-best," person and anytime we can use a customer's experience to improve we will.

Honestly I'm quite skeptical about his complaint. I called you guys several times to talk about my preorders, and each time the rep I talked to was incredibly helpful. One of them actually went and spoke with your buyer to get the lowdown on incoming shipments, and when he came back he gave me a surprisingly honest report (it all could have been theater, but it was still satisfying). For someone to have such an extreme opposite experience is surprising at least.

That's what I got from them too. But the fact is, two weeks it is. unlike some store who delays and delays.

I am glad you've been so satisfied but the complaint is legitimate and we have the recording to prove it. Our sales associate may have disconnected the call inadvertently but his information was inaccurate and his demeanor inappropriate. We regret this.

They sell stuff really well, but the customer service can be annoying. that's why I did not order from them at first. Just buy stuff and avoid contacting them!

Thanks Henry. I know your typically excellent service doesn't happen by accident. It's the result of a team of people working hard to make it happen. I hope my feedback helped in that regard.
