I just got my coolpix 800 and epson 870 today and am psyched to get started! Do you think the Nikon coolpack is worth it? I believe it includes a somewhat bulky case, batteries with recharger and some filters. The retail is almost $100 but I could probably find an online coupon to bring it down to $65 or so. Is this a good deal? If not, what kind of batteries and recharger would you recommend? Thanks, I'm kinda new at this.

In my opinion it is worth the money, especially if you can get it for $65. The batteries and charger are worth about $25, and add another $25+ for the filters. That leaves $15 for the bag, and it is a perfect bag for the 990/950. In mine I carry the following: camera, fisheye, wide angle lens, 2X teleconverter, 16 AA batteries and charger, filter pack, 3 flash cards, SB22 flash, newton flash bracket, and a cobra mini-tripod. I just got back from almost 2 weeks in the Greek Isles and cxarried the bag with me everywhere. I also had enough room in the bag to carry my sunglasses, passport and travelers checks. Compared to most 35mm gadget bags, this thing is tiny. I love it.

JRT,
I agree. I have about the same in mine (switch the fisheye, and wide
angle lens for the EagleEye.)
At $65 it's a steel.
I paid $85 and worth every bit.

Didn't buy it for my own CP800. I wanted/bought a Maha charger instead though so thats why. I just did a search on CNET.com and someone posted this (question/response are both from cnet):

I bought a Coolpak kit and to me the filters are just generic, cheapo
filters. They do not say NIKON on them. The wallet is 2 filters wide
with silver NIKON logo as opposed to the 3 filter wide and gold logo
the picture shows at there web site.

Plus...the circular polarizer is defective - rough glass edge.

Anyone else have this experience?
RESPONSE:
Yep, that's exactly what I got in my coolpack. More news for you.... they're
not multi-coated, either. Bummer, huh? I bought it for the camera bag, tho.
That is one fine piece of eqpt.
