I could almost care less --- Sony is so inept.

Dear Valued Sony Customer,

We would like to apologize for a recent notification that affected some of our patient customers who have ordered the highly anticipated NEX7/KB digital camera. This recent communication stated that the camera would be available for shipment on Feb 17th 2012. This date was unfortunately incorrect and we do anticipate the camera to start shipping on 03/02/2012. Orders will be fulfilled throughout the month of March in the order they were originally received.

We are very excited for you to receive this amazing new product from our fantastic line of Sony NEX cameras. This camera has been in high demand and your decision to order through store.sony.com is appreciated.
Please be reminded that your payment will be captured upon shipment.

Tracking information will be sent via email once your order ships. This number will also be available within the order history in your Sony Account.
We appreciate your understanding and thank you for choosing Sony!

Sincerely,
Sony Customer Care

I'm just amazed by Sony's passive attitude!

The "recent communication stated ... date was unfortunately incorrect" should say "we told you the wrong date" but they don't have the decency to admit it's their mistake. We knew it was incorrect. Some of us haven't yet cancelled our order. How about owning up to it, Sony?

Now they say that "orders will be fulfilled throughout the month of March in the order they were originally received". Who believes this? They'll fulfill them in the random order their paper records fall to the floor in.

"We appreciate your understanding" is not an apology. It's a cop-out.

(I know some of you are sick of hearing about NEX-7 delays. That's why there are other threads to read...)

The mixed signals from the Sony Store are very frustrating I know. I can empathize with their efforts to cope with the aftermath of tragic flooding, but would have preferred that they had been more careful with providing accurate shipping dates. It also sucks to watch orders being filled by B&H customers while my Sony order languished. All that being said, I ordered on 1/25 and had been advised that my order would ship on 3/5, but just received notice that my order is "ready for shipping" with tomorrow's date.

That's even more frustrating -- when my order was placed Aug 30 and I'm being pushed to Mid March.

Good times.

I would not worry too badly.

Since I may very well end with two kits next week (if both Sony/BH orders cross-ship) I will put one up here for cost (plus PP/shipping.) I'm sure others might do the same.

Not that anyone cares, but disregard the above.

I just canceled my SS order. Guy called me from billing and told me it's "been so long" that my card expired, etc. Blah Blah Blah. Which is understandable.

But?

He said they would have to "rescind" the $50 credit they gave me (uhm, well that I talked CS into giving me for all the grief.) And, umm, the "new" shipping date was MARCH 30th. LOL.....

Just kind of put me over the top after all this hassle, and time wasting.

So, since I am at confident with B&H 3/1/12 date I'm just going with that.

I placed an order for the nex-7 with kit early last October. I have been patiently taking all the delays, then I called them early this month to see if there was a chance I could get it before February 15 because then I was going on vacation. They told me that definetly I would. Then a weak later they emailed me that it was delayed to Feb. 17. Yesterday they emailed me that Feb. 17 was "unfortunatelly incorrect", and they anticipated to start shipping on 3/2/2012, and orders wiill be fulfilled throughout the month of March in the order they were originally received.

I called them today to see that given that I ordered early on October, if I might get before March the 8th ( I have a wedding 2 days later), and was told that not until the end of March.

I cancelled my order because I refuse to play their game of delaying a few days at the time so you would not cancel the order. I know my cancelling won't matter much to them, but to me it does because I don't feel like a sucker any more.
