The New Nikon P510

Any of you HX-100 owners seen the new P510 by Nikon and whether you feel that it might be a better superzoom than our Sony ? Would like to hear some responses thanks.

I really love that Ferrari like futuristic design!, BUT...
... if it is like its predecessor (P500) I wouldn't buy it:

IQ was not good enough for large prints, marketing hooks like slow motion video feature was on a useless and ridiculous small formats, sound was muted when zooming due the mechanism noise, etc... Its lens is not comparable with Carl Zeiss lens quality by far... I wouldn't.

Looks like a contender. The controls look well thought-out. Their previous models were much worse than the Sony when it came to NR and mushing of details, so we will have to wait and see some samples and reviews.

I saw it, but going buy the past Nikon SZ i will give a miss on that, at that range im waiting to see the results, just a gimmick i suspect. Never been a lover of Nikon.

I have the P500
and really noise reduction is even higher.
and no control over noise reduction.
The camera is also slower.
focus speed is poor.

The P500 have great image quality for small prints,but you better not look at 100% view.
The balance between the three camera's is the best of the HX100V

P500 even more noise reduction,and no fine detail.

FZ100 Better image quality then P500 but there is plenty of noise starting around iso 200

Raw pictures of the camera are so noisy.it is almost not possible to get an good picture from raw.

If you remove the noise from your raw pictures then end up like the Jpg pictures.
yes panasonic do an great job in there JPG output.

Hx100v well every one know about the camera.
It is still the best choice.

I read Thad the FZ150 is better,but not to say it is allot better,it is better at base iso.
high iso is also poor.

Wow, and I thought it's as good as advertised until you hear from past owners of P500 ! I guess we wait to look at images tested first and see if that noise is still an issue. Thanks for all your feedback.

I felt in love with P500 instantly, that's my next camera!, I thought and was just about purchasing a P500 until reading the users manual carefully and watching all the serious reviews I found: My disillusion was great and NIKON Coolpixs were erased from my dictionary.

Its video advertising was a master piece! but full of hooks, playing hard in the border of ethic.

Well you can always look here this reviewer do allot of small camera's

reviews here ,and you can look at the 100% view of the pictures,it give you an better view.

It is not so complicated as here on depreview ,but hi is fast on the new camera models.

I was stupid enough to buy one.
but this is another story.

Nikon cannot make super zooms,and Nikon will never get an super zoom the way like Sony do.
Nikon Is only good in SLR,but in compacts hmm.
Even in the Nikon forum people buy canon.of another brand

The P510 is f/3.3-5.9, the DSC-HX100V is f/2.8-5.6. I would rather have the f/2.8 than the extra 200mm reach.

I do find it interesting that the MSRP is almost identical to the DSC-HX100V.

and yes exactly thats why I started to ask....possible contender?... not just yet

maybe we will have soon some comparison samples Sony HX200 vs Nikon P510.

anyhow it sports : JPEG quality levels Fine, Normal, Basic

time will tell.
