Thank you Gauatm, and many thanks for starting this thread. May I ask, how did you arrange for the very dark backgrounds in your shots of the roses? The lighting is quite beautiful. Paul

Thank you for your kind words Christoph. I am relatively new to flower photography and I am very happy that we can share our pictures here. Thank you also for posting some lovely shots, Paul

I spent a few hours at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA earlier this month - here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip. Looking at my photos - I realized that for many of the photos I was photographing closer in that I usually do - and getting a little abstract with some of the photos
Yes, a 700mm photo of a water lily. The 500L is sharp even with the extender. Very good for flowers that are a bit too far away, like on a pond. I will have to use this lens more for flowers. F16 used.
Thanks, Gautam. As of a day or so ago, I began using Canon's DPP RAW processor rather than PSElements v10's ACR to process my new Canon 5DII RAWs.
I'm getting MUCH better results with my 5DII photos! Here are two florals, about all that's blooming in my backyard are Helleborus (Lenten Rose) and tiny Snowdrops.
Center spot metering, center point focus
Helleborus CROP, with 70-200mm/4L IS @187mm ISO 125 1/125 f/8 hand-held but supported on arm of lawn chair, focus point on right bloom
and Snowdrops same lens @ 169mm ISO 125 1/80 f/9 hand-held but similarly supported on chair...
Sorry that I wasn't posting much of 2011, but I was doing other types of photo work. The plan is for more flowers and macros in the latter half of this year.
