Those colors are just beautiful and the detail is amazing.

I have often found that slow and deliberate gets what is needed. For me personally I am more often to use slow and deliberate then burst.

You certainly got what was needed IMO. I do think these are superb image. Good composition, good subject, exposed well, clean and sharp (but not overly sharp).

Kudos to you and thank you for sharing them here and in there own thread where they can easily be seen, assessed and commented on.

Harder with some luck :)

Excellent capture Tom are you sure AJ didnt take this lol. Good going buddy. Do you think the AF speed of you D300s would have been quick enough?

Ray, he has not been out for a couple of weeks. Tough school schedule :( He is getting there with quick reactions on the D700/300 f4 afs w/tc1.4. He got a shot of a Pallid Harrier that the guy with 600mm (from Tripod) and the 200-400vr w/tc1.4 shooter did not get.

I use the 300s most of the time for bif unless I really think I may need the ISO of the D3S. If I am really wanting fast then it is the D3S and 300 2.8vr/70-200vr without a TC. I am heading out now to try and get a good position for Raptors sitting, landing and launching (lots of them about at the moment :) ). I will be taking the D3S and D300s .... we'll see if I get some results ;) I have to hike through the hot jungle so will not be taking the 500mm or tripod.

I am trying to get more interesting images.

Many thanks for stopping by and commenting.
All the best

Kim, many thanks.

I do use burst, particularly for soccer. I think that most of the people that use the term 'spray and pray' do not know how to use a burst. Everything happens so fast , the cameras focus fast enough that I can get a burst of the entire sequence of the action. I often get a shot that I did not even see with my eyes. I'm not praying for a good shot since all will be good enough but hoping that I catch the magic, split second with impact, facial expressions, sweat flying etc :)

I meant to post some other shots on the Sunday Birds but just never got around to it. I did post these seperately since I quite like the landing shot. If I had shot a burst would I have caught the Roller a few more inches out from touchdown/different wing position ???? I'll never know :)
