I have a big ORB in my mind.... there are few members in the forum, there is no need to tell who is who, as everyone knows... that don't like Fujifilm...

They buy one camera after the other... models on models... and they dislike them all..

So .... as somebody else told some days ago... MOVE ON... if you don't like fuji coz the have broken lens units, if you don't like fuji coz they produce ORBS, if you don't like fuji coz their lenses don't have viagra circuits incorporated and the tend to look downwards... then move on,,,, don't buy them find another brand NIKON, CANON, CASIO, OLYMPUS are waiting for you... perhaps PENTAX.... why not RICOH...

There is no camera without flaws, and there is not any camera to help you shoot more than average shots... I have an old Kodak P880 full of flaws but I manage to take wonderful shots... it only needs to be in the mood... and not testing all the time this or that.... You really don't know that in the next 6 to 9 months all these models will be past...???

SSDD from you. More sloppy thinking.

You started a thread...YOU...you had complete control to call it whatever you wanted and you called it:
  • "Just a question about ORBS"
Yet, there is no question about orbs. None.

In four paragraphs you don't even ask a single question of any type until the final sentence.
  • And that question has NOTHING to do with orbs.
As far as all these models being "past" in six to nine months, what's the point? Is the lifecycle of a $599 USD camera less than a year for you? Fujifilm must love you for that. And they must love you for forgiving this camera before its lifecycle is even up, if your timetable is any indication. Then again, it appears it's time was up before it began. DOA.

If you have a X10, enjoy it.

If you want to ask a question, ask it.

But don't do your same-ol' same-ol' of sloppy thinking and flame-baiting with a completely and utterly disingenuous title and agenda.

You never really had a question and you never should have started this thread. I'm still waiting for your thoughts to rise to the level of your photography.

Too much common sense! That won't play well here........... :-)
Unless one is an apologist for a product.

If you had your way Will we couldn't even ask a person why they shot a scene a certain way.

Just like if you don't like a camera you should move on the same could be said about a forum..... Move on if you don't like it.

Apologies if my lack of photographic knowledge is catching.

I think prospective buyers need to be warned away from this dog of a camera.

The more noobies who read about the orbs, the better... save them the money and heartache of buying this poor camera.

Very true & sensible points Mike.

The oRbsession here has devolved into neurotic disorders for a few members I'm afraid.

Yep. So they start thread after thread attacking those who have the temerity to want their camera to work properly in situations where others do.

As I pointed out yesterday .... they can't help it. Full defensiveness mode.

Even if you don't want them to have it.

It is very clear that this camera is virtually USELESS for night city shooting, or (intermittently) images with specular highlights, although it is excellent in other areas.

Nobody should buy this pup without at least being aware of the problem. I have spoken to two camera store owners who were initially unaware of it, and are now better equipped to understand why they might be getting returns. Both were appalled by the examples.

Some of us have nothing against Fuji as a company. Against their behaviour over this issue, we have a lot.

I wish that every problem in my life could be solved so easy.
If you don't like X10 send it back...
Why having migraine if the solution is next to you?

Dan,

I don't think it is necessarily fair to call the orb gang orbsessed any more than vocational hairs in the soup or fly in the milk. I am sure they have their motives, obtuse as they may be. They are free not to grasp that most of us are not in the least concerned by their orb thingy, and delighted by the IQ, quality build and features of the X10. They must feel attached in some sort of pathological way to the orb thing, or else they wouldn't keep beating a dead horse. We should feel supportive of the troubled ones.

For people who are not concerned, you are spending an inordinate amount of time and threads attempting character assassination on people who just want their cameras to work properly.

But it has a great side effect for Fuji. With each post you make doing this, the Google hits for "orbs" and "X10" go up and provide a valuable service to consumers.

Not that easy. How to deal with a manic orbsessive hair in the soup?

Ahhh, I see!
It's a deviant sexual oRbsession then.
OeRbipus complex!
They want to kill their cameras & make love to their Orbs!

Didn't the Doors have a song about this?

Instead of supporting them though I'm thinking of the poor Orbs! Who will take them after such degradation?

I love quotations of Einstein. How about this one: "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

glad to know that this completely nocturnal urbanite has such a distinctive and expensive paperweight. heck, i might need a 2nd to hold down the first one lest an orballoon waft it away.

For probably the hundredth time in this debate, not everyone CAN send it back, particularly when the manufacturer claims it performs within spec .

I am probably ultimately going to follow someone's advice today and finally give mine to an old people's home or children's charity.

I think it would suit their level of need and vision.
