X10 - Is anyone here actually photographing or only ORB hunting?

F5.8?
Good luck!
But, the imager is very very big!
That's Canon way.
I hope it focuses in low light.
Take care with exposure and WB.
Wish you fun in PP with all those photos!

When you'll move to the Canon forum you are going to be missed here... ;)

LOL you're incorrigible, man. those orbs must really annoy you. not sure why you feel the need to jab everyone else in the ORB-lies, we're just learning to deal with it and work within the limitations of this camera, which is definitely flawed. i'm not apologizing for it. lol you are just great

the point of the message is. S* T** F* U* but i guess it's a little bit over your ORB

Thanks Jade!

Without the RAW-ability of the X10 I couldn't have shot those pics. The recovery of highlights was up to 4 stops. That's very remarkable: at lower ISO I most of the time get 2 to 3 stops max headroom.

1: This is not a fan forum. It's a review forum. Reviews that pretend faults don't exist are worthless.
It doesn't say that in the rules. Anywhere.

Are you rewriting the rules for dpreview, or your own agenda? ;-)

What the rules do mention is that no one should continually bash a camera...
2: Not everyone CAN return it.
But they have eBay, where they can sell it. Or the local market.

Or you could give it away to someone you don't like.
3: Many have a conscience about selling it, at least without actually giving the buyer a clear view of its faults.
Many buyers don't see faults - they just see a very affordable, usable and compact photography tool. They just love it for what it is.

You haven't tried to sell it, have you? You should...so you can enjoy life more.
4: It's silly to BEGIN a thread by banging on about orbs, and those with the eyesight to notice them, and then complain orbs "hijack" too many threads.
There's a serious gap in your argument. This thread begins , not with "orbs" as you wrongly call them, but with some great shots from the X10, from the OP. If he can do it, so can you.
For me, this camera is possibly the worst I own.
I didn't realise it was that bad. For you. Sorry.

For some of us it's the very best camera of its type we have ever owned. You don't mind, do you, if we really appreciate that we each made a great buy when we got the X10?

I'm keeping mine... ;-)

I totally agree with this post. It seems like most people here would rather criticize the camera because of ONE THING than to actually use the darn thing. If it doesn't work for you, then return it or sell it. Simple as that. But please, let us not pretend that this is the worst camera ever created, completely incapable of taking a single good picture.
Please don't pollute this forum with ludicrous strawman arguments.
I don't see pollution. I see appreciative comments for a camera which works very well in the hands of many people.

How come you are the "ludicrous" policeman? I saw only great thoughts in what StarSprinkles wrote. It's a shame you yourself don't have something positive to contribute. ;-)

Well, as an X10 fan I would be very keen to see the RAW from which you claim 4 stops. ;-)

Any chance of posting it for us? (Or me?) Please?

For me, this camera is possibly the worst I own. It's like playing Russian Roulette in the conditions in which I shoot.
You should give it to someone you dislike, a photographer, for instance.

here how about this: we can help you make an informative well meaning ebay advertisement for it, and make sure you sell it at an honest well communicated price, and i'll pay you the difference of what fuji sniped out of you, as well as us all, from our ORB-lies.

then you can settle down happily without reservation (except for the lost time and frustration that you have to settle in your own heart for buying this camera in the first place) in the canon forum with your beautiful G1X and periodically come back here to poke fun at the orbs caught by the ignorant fodder sheep of fujifilm, but not too often so you don't look like too much of an a-hole. and we can all be happy.

sound good to me, how bout you

You apparently cannot detect a strawman in that sentence. Your failure entirely.

Exposing nonsense is a positive contribution, but I'm not surprised that you don't see it that way.

Because my X10 is now sitting on the shelf while I use the G1 X I bought to do what the X10 can't.
You got a Canon G1X already? is not being delivered yet. How did you get it?
It's on sale in stores in HK. I bought it the day after it was delivered.

Or someone blind enough not to notice?

However, the most fascinating thing about today's failed firmware is how it has brought the deniers buzzing out like wasps from a wasp nest that just got a stone thrown at it.

Don't blame us. It's Fuji that threw this stone.
