Hi, after seeing all the photos and testimonial from users, I am considering picking up this camera. Currently I am using a Sony Nex5, but am looking to make a change as it doesn't quite suit my needs. Is the autofocus tracking on the Nikon 1 series a lot better than the Sony? I have a chance to pick up a used v1 in excellent condition with both zoom lenses (10-30 & 30-110) for $750. Is this a good deal?

As an ex-NEX5 owner I can confirm that the N1 AF is much faster in good light than the Sony. I haven't tried it out enough in low lit conditions yet.

I think that is a good price. I paid $995 for my 2 lens V1 kit.... I love my V1.

I'd second that :-)

+2 the Nikon 1 AF is in a different league compared to my old 5n, I have still to take an out of focus image with my new J1!

I have a NEX5 that I bought when it first came out. Lots of resolution and the video is great. I just never warmed up to it. My red J1, on the other hand, makes me smile every time I take it out of the case. It's true. It's really tough to take a bad shot with the 1 System cameras. It seems to focus very fast. I'm not sure if it's just because I like it so much, or it really does.

It's not that Nikon 1 AF is just better. It is a whole lot better, and it doesn't take an expert to see the difference in use. Completely different levels.

That sounds like a great price if the equipment is mint. After the 5N I was so put off by small cameras that I tip-toed into the V1 with just the 10-30mm lens. I wound up having to buy a white 30-110 because of the lower price I got, but I still payed a total of $1028. However, it is worth every penny to me.

Not sure exactly why he wants to get rid of it, but I think it's because he hardly uses it. I'll make sure to test it out fully before committing to buy it though.
