I like the first and second pics. Where is this?

Amazing detail in all,did you use flash for the last capture? Its well lit if its an available light capture?I know f1.4 lenses are fast,Im happy with the details with my 5n.but its nice to know I can go pne step futher & still use the same lenses ,etc..

Hi Carol,
I liek the second one because of the athmosphere.

Re the first one: Is that lens distorsion or does that short-trousers guy really have such crooked legs??

Thanks for commenting. The second picture was taken at Pike Place market in Seattle on the way down the stairs to the waterfront. First pic was downtown Seattle. The vendors pic was at Pike Place Market. No flash. ?The market has lights.

Carolyn,

We've had a chance to take a detailed look at your great photos on Smugmug and have a few questions, if you have time?

First, wonderful images! And, what a great way to compare performance between the 5n and 7. The interior staircase photos with the 7 show excellent dynamic range. Could you tell me how much post processing was required? Or did the tri-navi controls allow you to nail the exposure in camera?

Do you use Lightroom for post?

Now that you've used both cameras for a bit, have you reached any conclusions about personal preferences? Are you glad you bought the 7?

How do you find the noise levels in the night time 7 photos? From the photos posted, I notice the isos are a bit lower than the 5n photos.

Any other thoughts in retrospect?

Thanks for your time!

Jim

I really like the BW # 2.

Jim,

I'll try to answer your questions. On the interior staircase photos you mention I did a little cropping and a little boosting of the shadow slider. I use Aperture to process my photos. When I took that photo it looks like I added +.3 ev. The tri NAV controls are great on the NEX-7. It's sooo easy and quick to make changes. The grip feels secure. Only thing I don't like is I someties accidentally hit the movie button. It feels so much more couplete than the NEX 5N because of the integrated viewfinder, flash and real flash hot shoe......but I plan to keep the NEX 5N so I can have a different lens on each. I really like the image quality from both cams. Loving the lighter weight of the camera bag compared to the DSLRs.
Thanks for looking at the photos and making comments.
