Fuji sends me a surprise in the mail

When I saw the all-black bubble envelope in the mail box, I was initially reminded of the death notice received from a German relative a couple of years ago. But seeing the words Fuji on the front, I opened it and found this card inside-

My first silly thought was- "Why would they mail the update for the orb fix!" However, I found instead a fine-looking shutter release cable! What an unexpected surprise! I have definitely been happy with my X10 and this only adds to the feeling that I made the right choice.

Now I only have to wait for Paul Till and rattymouse to give the forum their insightful analysis of Fuji's motivation. Whatever....

Nice of them to send it but I wonder what % of users actually use a cable release?

Fuji has got cheap I guess....when I registered my s200exr a year or 2 ago they send me the same letter, only it came with a 50 dollar visa card.

You're probably the only person who's kept one long enough to register it. :P

I've only ever registered one of my Fuji's, that was my S100fs, they sent me a FujiFilm umbrella. Three years have past and it's still standing in the corner unused.

Paul.

I wonder if this is practiced by Fuji worldwide or country specific. I've registered at least 4 cameras in as many years here in Canada and never got a letter let alone a gift of any kind. Not complaining though... we get a 2 year warranty and the pricing is favourable compared to the UK.

I live in Canada(Ontario). My letter and the op's do state that the gift is for being one the first to register a Fujifilm camera in Canada. Was thinking of registering the xp20 I bought in October but I don't think I would be anyway near the first one to register it.

Ideal for anyone who wants to put the camera on a tripod and take long exposure night shots.

Like cityscapes.

Oops.

Considering it never rains in GB that makes sense?...

Surprise package in the mail today... but wouldn't you know it, I try the camera release once and it jams solid.

Pretty ironic really... now if Fuji has just used a standard USB port (like the HS20), I could still be using my wireless release.

That's the OPM kicking in.

Otherwise known as the orb protection mechanism.
