Fuji s100fs codec

Isnt that Dos based?
Originally I think it was, but it runs perfectly on my Win 7 64bit machine.
So that's a new version that now has ExifTool combined into the same app.?
yeah its nice to use too. Has all the Fuji Raf files info you would want.
I might try Pauls suggestion too. Hopefully it works with 64bit Win 7.

Install s7raw ( http://www.geocities.co.jp/SiliconValley-PaloAlto/9919/s7raw.html ) this gives you raf thumbnails in windows explorer.

Paul.

downloaded it. Ran the extension config. Doesn't work with Win 7 64bit. Also according to the home page of the link you provided it doesn't appear to support latest Fuji files or is this page now obsolete?

We are trying to show S100FS thumbnails in windows, this works for that purpose, don't try and confuse the OP.

I dont think the OP is suffering from confusion.
However your suggestion when I tried it didnt work.
Any idea why?
I too would like to see Raw thumbnails in explorer.

Download and use the free irfanview viewer it works grate with the S100fs files and can fully represent what have you shot... also you can setup it to open the file in your favorite RAW editor....
Simply the best you can use...
I agree, Irfanview is an excellent app. but it isn't free, at least for me. As I mentioned 8 hours earlier, I get update notices from Irfan. They started after I made a "donation". I don't recall the exact amount but seem to recall something like $25. If he released a commercial version I'd probably get that too.

Yo man give a try to IrfanView with its latest plugin package ( http://www.irfanview.com/plugins.htm ):

See the last 3 lines. Cool, eh?
Looks quite good, but does it tell you what EXR modes were used like ExiftoolGUi does?
Yeesss! Just took 6 EXR test pics and pasted here from their exif as parsed by IrfanView 4.30 with plugins pack 4.32:

1 - Landscape under bright sky, EXR mode, set to EXR-HR:
Filename - DSCF3434.RAF
Make - FUJIFILM
Model - FinePix F550EXR
Software - Digital Camera FinePix F550EXR Ver1.13
Maker Note (Vendor): -
EXR Mode - HR (High Resolution)
Dynamic Range Setting - Manual
Development Dynamic Range - 100

2 - Shot inside a closet, set to EXR-SN:
Filename - DSCF3435.RAF
EXR Mode - SN (Signal to Noise priority)
Dynamic Range - Standard
Dynamic Range Setting - Manual
Development Dynamic Range - 100

3 - Backlit outdoors, set to EXR-DR, DR set to 1600%:
Filename - DSCF3436.RAF
EXR Mode - DR (Dynamic Range priority)
Dynamic Range Setting - Manual
Development Dynamic Range - 1600

4 - Landscape under bright sky, set to EXR- Auto :
Filename - DSCF3437.RAF
EXR Mode - HR (High Resolution)
Dynamic Range Setting - Auto (100-400%)
Auto Dynamic Range - 100

5 - Shot inside a closet, set to EXR- Auto :
Filename - DSCF3438.RAF
EXR Mode - SN (Signal to Noise priority)
Dynamic Range Setting - Auto (100-400%)
Auto Dynamic Range - 200

6 - Backlit outdoors, set to EXR- Auto :
Filename - DSCF3439.RAF
EXR Mode - DR (Dynamic Range priority)
Dynamic Range Setting - Auto (100-400%)
Auto Dynamic Range - 400

Notes:

Plugins ver 4.30 didn't do that, they were oblivious to Fuji's MakerNotes. And the keyboard shortcut to open the exif window is a most straightforward one: "E".

Thanks Paul although that s7raw has bugs that freeze your computer.

Plus it aint me confused its everyone else for not understanding what i want...lol

Well this is something new... I have to check their website, my only complain is the weak support of the canon S90 files whatever I did... Anyway it would be lovely to see an app from fuji to manage all the camera functions and be more friendly than their earlier tries....

Cheers for that. I might download it and have a play. ExiftoolGui is good but it still has that dos clunkiness about it.

Just to be clear, the update notices are for the "free" version, which is the only version that I'm aware of. But if a better commercial version ever appears (and I have no reason to suspect that Irfan is developing one), I'd probably buy it. I'm surprised that the support for the S90 is weak, since it's been out there for quite a while. Is it RAW support you're talking about? I haven't made any feature requests, but I've seen posts from many happy Irfan users that have gotten additional features added soon after requesting them. That's one of the other reasons why I sent my payment.

I've never encountered any bugs with s7raw in XP, Vista, or 7... the program itself is too slow, in my opinion, but I never encountered any bugs.

Also, why anyone would prefer to use the Windows file browser rather than something such as Faststone or Irfanview is beyond me. Faststone and Irfanview are actually designed to view image files unlike Windows Explorer which is really designed as a file browser. If you want something good for image files, start using your preferred image browser. A few have already been recommended.

If there isnt anything then thats fine.

Plus we all work different

When you open infraview the RAF files still only appear and raf icon in the directory within Infraview (tiny picture bottom left)

Is this normal?

I mean i wish to view Raf. files in windows explorer.
Why didn't you say that in the first place instead of using obscure terms many of us don't know?
It was made quite clear early on what he wants, I've no idea why everyone is offering choices of programs to open the RAF files still.

He simply wants to view the RAF file thumbnails when he opens a folder on his computer or view them on his memory card when opened in windows.

Because he wrote "i wish to view Raf. files in windows explorer" when he could have written "i wish to view Raf icons in windows explorer". For more murky language, his latest post goes the extra mile :

Perhaps you'll help him out with this one?

I asked him very early on in the thread Do you mean you would like to see the RAF thumbnails as pictures when you open a folder?

His answer was yes. So from that point on it appears very clear to me what he wants, why are so many of you having a problem understanding?

I've never installed or used infraview so wouldn't know. If he installs s7raw it installs a .dll into windows and suddenly all your RAF files from the S100fs will be viewable as thumbnails when you open a folder. You don't have to use s7raw, it's just the .dll that's needed.

Paul.
