Fuji X pro prices!!!

This had been know for some time as amazon and other already had pre-order with these prices.

While the 35mm lens seems to be (somehow) worth the price, sadly, it looks that the 18mm is actually a bit mediocre, yet still cost $600 bucks.

But then all the pre-orders were gone within a day, so there are people who are willing to wait in a long line for it. I hope it doesn't disappoint them.

Take a look they're up on dpreview now!

Suddendly the k-01 doesn't seem so bad huh?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The K-01 isn't really the same class of camera as the Fuji :)

Here is something that might appeal more to the target audience:
Pentax K-5 at release: $1600 US
Pentax DA 21mm f/3.2: $650 (MSRP)
Pentax DA 35mm f/2.8 Macro: $700 (MSRP)
Pentax DA* 55mm f/1.4: $800 (MSRP) or DA 70mm f/2.4 for $700 (MSRP)
Total kit price: $3650 to 3750 (MSRP when new)

Yes, street price is lower, especially now the camera has been out a year and a half.

Fuji X-Pro1: $1700
18mm f/2: $600 MSRP
35mm f/1.4: $600 MSRP
60mm f/2.4: $650 MSRP
Total kit price: $3550 (MSRP when new)

So I am failing to see the issue on price. Yes, it is expensive, but reasonable for people looking for that type of camera . Most of the semi-pro DSLR's start with a price around $1500-$1800, don't see why this should be different.

Yeah the K-01 and the Fuji may not be, but add all the features people want and we soon get a camera for people to complain about price instead, rather than missing a feature they want.

IMO the thing Pentax should have done was offer an external EVF on release for the K-01, keeping the body price low and also keeping more people happy regarding that. But I do remember alot of out-cry regarding the lack of features in the k-x..............

I'd have been happy with an articulating screen, which Pentax could easily have pulled off, such that the K-01 could have been used like a TLR or when on a tripod with a tele, adjusting the screen to a better viewing angle.

I think this is the most amazing thing that people aren't talking about ... an APS-C camera for under $1000, even with what looks to be a great lens.

For street photography I'm thinking this might come to be one of the top contenders out there, and it looks like that's what they might be targeting by emphasizing the really thin lens. The only other one I would want is the xPro 1, which is hundreds of dollars more.

My only concern is the control scheme - since there's no indicator window on the top and the dial wheel isn't labeled, shooting M might be kind of a pain.

although if the lens quality approaches the limiteds, it might not seem that bad. Rather, the lenses are not priced very badly. But the body .... ouch!

Actually you can afford TWO of them for the price of the Fuji. Then rig them together and shoot in 3D.
Make that 3D 1080p movie!!!

If the K-01 had offered an EVF though the already small savings in size that it offers would pretty much have vainished renedering it pointless.

No it doesn't :-)

For the extra price you get a OVF, a EVF, and native mirrorless mount. And this is before you look at the lenses.

The lens closest to the 35mm F/1.4 is the 31mm F/1.8, but the 31mm is slower, twice as expensive, and together with the camera quite a bit larger.

The lens closest to the 18mm is probably the 15mm F/4, but again the 15mm is two stops slower, and quite a bit larger.

Although the body is expensive at 1.7k, the 3 primes are reasonable around 600 each consider they are fast, small and full metal. The full size samples look promising too. Now only if I could afford them.
