An unusual question??

Hi,

I am trying to find a way to add and alien or two to a photo I have, and am having a difficult time doing this in Photoshop.

The difficult part is creating the non-symetrical alien. I hope this isn't a bad question for this forum but everyone seems to know a ton about PS. I have tried everything I can find in the program to create a classic almond shape. I've tried overlapping circles and elipses, tried all the tranform functions on circles and elipses, and I can get what I am looking for. The shapes can be distorted, but the symetry of the shape cannot be changed. I need to be able to in some way click and drag one edge to stretch it. Or something like that.

Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks. Andy

Draw it as a path.
--Jack is right! You have to use the vector tools so you can grab the anchor points or a path lin between anchors to stretch. If you don't have Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw experience you may have to check out some online tutorials for pen tool & shape tool usage...it can be tricky at first! But it can be done!

BAH! The only thing vectors are good for is text! And alien heads.

GIVE ME PIXELS OR GIVE ME DEATH!!!

(You gotta use the vector tools, despite my deep-seated aversion to them.)

:)

The following image was my first attempt at using vectors. Used Adobe Illustrator. Just in case anybody is curious what some of the basic things you can do with them are. The blur was added in Illustrator, but it requires that you rasterize your layers.

The background is a gradient map (of the Illustrator variety, not the Photoshop type) and was not part of the blur I mentioned. That was only applied to the shapes.

I played around with the Path function and looked at Illustrator this morning. I have a lot more learning to do before I can accomplish what I am trying to do.

The Vector tool is something I will look up later today and see what it can do.

Thanks for the direction. Andy
