Adorama is taking pre-orders in the US.

I see they want $1700 US for the body and $600 for the wide and standard and 650 for the telephoto/macro.

At this price the NEX7 is looking like a bargain.

I was kind of leaning towards the Fuji, and would have put up with the quirks that I am reading about (poor manual to name one) but I am turned off by the price, especially since the Sony has so many nice features (focus assist, tillable LCD, 24 MPs, great EVF to name a few)

Its nice to have these choices though, it reminds me of the 1980s when the Canon A1 drove the SLR market to produce some really nice equipment.

I cant wait to see what other mirrorless cameras are going to be produced.

The NEX 7 is not without problems as well, namely colour fringing on wide angle m-mount lenses.

It is an interesting price point because it is the same price as the Zeiss Ikon 35mm rangefinder which does not have the digital imaging features.

Pro camera for a pro price. Not that surprising.
I guess there won't be shortages of this camara on the launch day.

To be honest I bet this thing will be as unobtainable as the X100 initially was

I am waiting for Amazon to cancel or change my lens order. The total from them was $1599.85 for the 3.
Adorama order is $1979.34 for the 3 including $129.49 tax...

We will see... If not, yay!

I'll bet they don't cancel them. The prices arn't so far off that they can be considered an obvious mistake, and I am sure they don't want to antagonize their customers and get a lot of bad press for what is probably just a smallish amount of money to them.

I agree you wont be able to buy this easily.

As for pro prices pro cameras, the price for cameras, especially at this level is pretty much arbitrary. Do you really think it costs Nikon over $6000 to produce the D3? It doesn't.

These high end cameras are the SUVs of the camera world (generally speaking, the larger SUVs are the most profitable cars in a manufacturers line. They are priced at a premium, not because they cost that much more to make, but because people will pay the price. I remember reading that the Ford Explorer (ten years ago) was on of the most profitable automobile factories.

No way....sorry!
Yes, I know the price of a Leica-M-oldtimer, but.........

The X-Pro1 will cost equal to 2.350 Euro incl Vat / Mva. with one wide lens...................huuuuuuu.

This is 350 Euro more than a Canon 5D MKII incl EF 35/2.0. (1.700,- + 300,-)

Could this be the same megalomania Fuji tried when they introduced the S5? (We all know what happened....)

....the X-100 seems more and more like a bargain.........:O

Why do people keep bringing out the 5D as a comparison? They are both cameras, but except for that, they really don't have anything in common. They are targeted at completely different models. It seems to me that we would see some comparisons to Nikons or Sonys or whatever, but nope...its always the 5dMkII.

You can chose any other example if you want.
Or do you need help with Nikon's, Sonys or something else?

Just send me a PM........

His first point was much more valid. They're totally different in aesthetic. I HATE carrying my 5d2 and lenses when traveling. That's fine if you think it's way overpriced, but for some, like myself, the joy of use is priceless.

I was close to getting the Sony 7n but this body and controls are more to my liking and I've really been loving the colors of my x100.

I'm freakin excited to have my preorder in!

At this price the NEX7 is looking like a bargain.
Yet people are willing to pay as much for the NEX 7 (as evidence on eBay) as for the Fuji.

Also, the 24mm f/1.8 lens for NEX is $1000, where the 35mm f/1.4 is only $600 for the Fuji, or the 18mm f/2 only $600 as well (interpolating a 24mm f/1.8 would probably $600 also). So my point being, the Sony with the 24mm Zeiss is $2200 US and the Fuji with the 35mm f/1.4 is $2300. Not that different.
I was kind of leaning towards the Fuji, and would have put up with the quirks that I am reading about (poor manual to name one) but I am turned off by the price, especially since the Sony has so many nice features (focus assist, tillable LCD, 24 MPs, great EVF to name a few)
I agree about the features, but the Fuji seems to have a nice viewfinder too, resolution might be fairly comparable given the lack of AA filter on the Fuji. Focus assist remains to be seen. I ordered a Fuji, but am nervous about the quirks as well. My point here is that the price isn't that different between the Sony and the Fuji given that Fuji seems to have better prices on their lenses.
Its nice to have these choices though, it reminds me of the 1980s when the Canon A1 drove the SLR market to produce some really nice equipment.
I agree completely.
I cant wait to see what other mirrorless cameras are going to be produced.
I think it will be a good couple years as well.

If you don't like the price of an item, either because you simply can't afford t, or don't find it to represent a good value based upon your priorities or simply don't like the color or whatever else, the solution is simple, don't buy it.

Simple enough right ? But why the need to feel anyone cares what your not buying ?

Would you like a list of various camera models, home electronics, bottles of wine and everything else I choose not to buy for whatever reason ? I doubt it, because why would you or anyone else possibly care ?

Likewise, why do you think anyone really cares if a guy named Erik isn't going to be buying one ?

Do you think people were waiting to see if you got one before they placed an order because your some sort of trendsetter ?

Just don't understand these ever common types of messages I see these days.

Do people go forum to forum expressing each and every camera they won't be buying ?
No way....sorry!

LOL, exactly my thoughts. By the way I don't like large bathroom tissue rolls. They don't properly fit in the holders. I am sure you care.

P.S. I think that he was expressing his disappointment at the price because he wanted to buy one.

I know I can. I was just wondering why every time one of you experts decides to show off your math skills, you always use the 5D as the example.

You obviously arn't showing off your photography skills since all you judge a camera on is price. So it must be your math skills you want to impress us with. Well consider me impressed. Nice adding.

Someone are allowed to tell "the world" they will by the camera for the current price, fine for me.

But I feel it is right to wait until the price stabilize and the camera is properly tested, FW-updatet (?) and have the promised lenses and adapters released.

Opposite to all who yell about the "unclomplete" X-100; I am totally happy with it, and it cover my needs together with my other cameras.

Shure, I would like to have a X-Pro1, and specially to work with my ContaxG-lenses, but i can't accept 1700 EURO for what could be a "cat in a sack".

I buy a camera to take pics., not to show the world I'm a innovator.
