My wife will go to Hongkong on 9 Feb 2012 for few days, as my previous thread, I am interested with Sigma 8-16mm that is hard to find one in my country and if I can afford, it is very expensive.
I heard that Hongkong is more cheaper, but the question is, where to buy?
She will carry my K7 to make sure the lens is Pentax mount.

Thank you for your kind share.

rgds,

Try Wing Shing Photo in Mongkok. They should have that lens in K-mount, but maybe best to call them a few days before you set off to make sure.

I can also recommend Wing Shing Photo having just purchased from them in December. I found them to be very helpful and friendly, but did not have much luck bargaining there :P (did not stop me from handing over my credit card)

If you have no luck there you can try Tin Cheung http://www.tincheungcamera.com.hk/ , however i didn't find them to be as helpful. Prices were also a bit higher than Wing Shing (again did not stop me from getting my credit card out for Sigma 10-20 f.4-5.6). Again bargaining seemed to be a waste of time.

Hi Momantai, do much the price difference between Wing Sing vs Tin Cheung?
I tried to contact Tin Cheung by email, but they did'nt respond me until now.

Maybe you know the Sigma 8-16mm's price in Wing Sing? As in Tin Cheung is about almost HK5.000,-- for Canikon mount, and I don;t know this is with/without warranty?
I prefer without warranty to get more cheap price.

Thank you...

Wing Shing & Man Shing in Mong Kok are reputable and they don't sell grey market, but their service is lacking. Know what you are buying and know the price ahead.

Tin Cheung has good service but they are said to be selling grey market as local import sometimes. Worth a visit but know the stuffs that you will be buying.

There are a few good shops in TST but most are scammers and better avoided if in doubt.

Hi Kesha,

It was around 200-300 HKD difference. I just dug out some quotes I had written down and noticed that the DA*50-135 was around 200 cheaper at Tin Cheung. So I think it would be worthwhile checking both stores out before purchasing (both have a store in Mongkok although I'm not sure what Mongkok Tin Cheung store is like as I went to Tin Cheung in K11 building TST).

Here is the contact page for Wing Shing if you are still having trouble with the site http://www.wingshingphoto.com/contact.php

I don't think you will have warranty either way unless your local Sigma distributor honours warranty on lenses purchased in other countries.

Cheers.

But thank you for the email link, I was going crazy to find the email yesterday.
