I had to sell my Rebel XSi yesterday! http://houston.craigslist.org/pho/2813788655.html
I just upgraded to a 7D and with going through a divorce, I needed the cash.

I hope that you all don't mind if I still hang around here! This is the best Forum on DPR!

When you get down to the nuts and bolts of photography, the results depend on the 'nut' behind the camera!

See the 'Gear List' in my 'Profile' for my current equipment.

I'm very sorry to hear about the divorce. I hope you enjoy your Canon 7D. I've only been on this forum a short time, and I've noticed that you are one of those that participate a lot...and that is appreciated by many here, I'm sure.

When things settle out with the divorce and finances, be sure to get another Rebel. One of the advantages of these Canon T2i (550D) and Canon T3i (600D) cameras etc., is that they are relatively lightweight. To me that's a positive, not a negative and if there's lots of plastic, that's OK by me too. Strong light plastic components are a good thing.

I'm one of those that likes to use multiple DSLR cameras with lenses attached. Having backup cameras and the ability to use another camera with an attached lens quickly are an advantage...at least in my book. I'll probably get another Canon T2i or T3i or the latest model...sometime...maybe as long as a year from now (so I also stay within budget). I have the (not-being-used) 18-55mm IS lens just waiting for the next Canon camera. :)

Oh, and please stay around...show your Canon 7D pictures here...I don't mind. :)

Hopefully after you get through your current situation things will smooth out again for you. I've got an XSi and while I wish I could afford to upgrade (especially would like a tilt / swivel screen, and I admit it - video). Even so, the XSi is really IMO the first link in the modern Rebel line, with SD memory, live view, and a couple other things the earlier Rebels didn't have, so to me it is hardly obsolete.

Sure, post photos! I like to see them and even if not taken with a Rebel, we can still learn from how your various lenses work on different subjects etc.

'Bass-ackward' does not equate to 'superior'.

Sad indeed, for both reasons. But hang in there. You'll get your life back in track again, and your Rebel as well. I've heard of the emotional nightmare/roller coaster a divorce can be, and I feel for you. All is for the best.

Just hang on here, as you said this seems to be the best international forum around. I'm here too since I don't feel home in the xxD- forum...

Switching bodies is always tricky at first, but you'll get used to it soon, believe me.

About the other issue you stated, I cannot help otherwise than saying that life seems turn out ok eventually. All the best from here too!

Thanks for the kind words, Digi! I agree about the light weight of the Rebels being a plus, but, at least for now, the 7D alone will have to do.

Thank you, Midwest!

I agree that the XSi is by no means 'obsolete'. Mine still takes great pics!

Good to know that you share my sentiments about the other forum!

I'm already getting some great shots of my new grandson with the 7D, but I need to get out and shoot some birds!
About the other issue you stated, I cannot help otherwise than saying that life seems turn out ok eventually. All the best from here too!
Thank you, Janne! Much appreciated!

The kids are grown, so there are no problems there, but the divorce process just won't end! First, the mediator cancelled mediation, then my lawyer cancelled the next session because of a conflict. Just seems like it will never end!

Thank you, Guinness!

I was looking for a camera for my wife and looked at your camera. wish I had call now.................

Sorry to hear all this, Yogi. You'll get through it okay. Just takes time.

I picked up a 60D a while back to replace my SXi, which remains a solid backup. I think you were one who said you had no problem with me sticking around here (for the same reasons). I'm sure you're still more than welcome. More than a few of us would miss your consistent comments and help here.
