Here are a few photos I took today with the SX40 HS. The camera has a lot more functions than I am used to, so I am going to have a bit of a learning curve with this camera. These do have some light post processing but nothing that really changed the image much. Thanks for looking.
This Hairy Woodpecker was maybe 50 feet or so away. Using the telephoto is going to be my biggest challenge. I haven't figured the image stabilization out at all. I cropped this a bit, but I think it is the only image I cropped. I will probably have to use a tripod to get any good long distance shots.
This is hail from a January storm a couple of nights ago that hasn't all melted yet. I think the camera handled the white balance well here. This was in the shade. No sharpening was used.
These are rose quartz rocks.
Daffodils coming up in January. I like using the EVF most but here I used the LCD screen to get a lower view without having to lay down in the wet grass. The articulated screen is really nice and I think that I will use it a lot this coming summer.
These flower pots were shot using the 1.5X digital zoom -- no particular reason, just experimenting. I had to use manual mode here to get color on the dark pots and not have a washed out background. Maybe there is some other way to do this but I don't know how.
