3 new Nex in next 8 months

A new 3 for sure, hopefully with a better UI. But all in all this is what I hate about the whole industry. They produce new models every year and rarely give any firmware updates on the old stuff. Can we keep a camera for more then 18 months without it being forgotten by the maker?

As far as I know there where 4 FW updates for the Nex 3/5... Not realy forgotton after some time! I think that Sony did a good job on updating the FW for the Nex system, not forgetting it.

It's really tough to buy stuff these days :). I just purchased a C3, only to see these rumors lol. But what can you do. Can't always stay on top of the game!

Glad to hear that the Nex support is better. I'm comming from the DSLR side of sony which unless you own the pro model they did nothing.

I think with the 5n and the 7 Sony has hit it out of the park. Their chief concern should be in finalizing and producing those 6 new lenses en masse instead of developing new models of cameras.

That said, the two big things we're likely to see out of any of the new NEX models are:
1. On-sensor PDAF similar to the Nikon 1

2. A "sweet spot" sensor, something in the range of 16-20 MP that still gives excellent resolution but great high iso.

Perhaps they think the 5N and C3 are finished, then. I mean, about 5 months out of production and no updates at all. I think the chance of getting FW updates after new models are released even get worse... :(

I would like to see them tweak AF a bit.

1. They seem to have the customer range covered from amateur to near pro.

2. They still don't have production established because of the flooding and destruction of their factories.

3. The current NEX cameras were all based on sensors already introduced in their SLRs. Sony has not introduced new DSLRs with new sensors.

4. The reliable source could be talking about color models of which the Japanese are so fond. Red, white, and pink versions of the Nex3 and-5N should about cover it.

NEX-1 perhaps? Nearly the size of the 3 but with a fixed zoom lens, priced lower, no touch controls?

Who knows, would have loved to see there were 3 new NEX lenses...... available immediately, but you know how that goes :)

...of course with a good CMOS sensor (M9 CCD was obsolete already
at the release time), perhaps named NEX-1 :D, would be a really hot
item - provided a focus peaking still present for MF'ing,

well... even if they dont do much to improve the already very good 5N, rolling a newer model for all 3 (C3, 5N and 7) will just keep more people buying into the NEX line since people always prefer the most update product vs buying last year model

besides.... dont you think the team thats engineering the body is different than the team designing the lens? so what does rolling out 3 new/update models have to do with "they should focusing on making lens" ? its just like asking the bartender to go to the kitchen and do the chief's work when the kitchen is overwhelmed :P

That analogy kinda works, and I think most people understand that however, the curent E-Mount lens lineup is very underwhelming. Some of us are patient, but there are the few that want it to be a mature line-up immediately. Heck, even I would want the options, and I know they're coming as Samyang/Rokinon/Bower/[insert other applicable names here :)] have made NEX lenses as well as Tamron.

I know my bartender can't cook my dinner. I just want the chefs to be efficient and not be overwhelmed in the kitchen, but maybe that's just a management problem ;)
