P7000 images - too late?

REALLY great images here..especially like the monk holding the bucket. You did well with these. And your shot of the snake..a adder? One of the world's most venomous snakes...location? Thanks for posting these interesting images.

Hi Sactojim,

thanks! Yes an adder, but photographed through glass at the zoo in Munich. :-)
The P7000 performed well under these conditions.

This is a very nice series of photos -- I like the variety and your processing is excellent. If I had to choose just one, I think the stairs are especially interesting due to the geometric shapes.

Hi Darrell, thanks!

The stairs are part of castle Bruneck which is located in Italy (South Tyrol, Alto Adige) and is part of a series of castles of Reinhold Messner a famous alpinist.

Excellent pics! I have a P7000 also, don't really see a reason to upgrade to the newer version, it has a few quirks but it's fine for me. I am a bit disappointed though that Nikon came out with the upgraded model so quickly after the original, and didn't offer some kind of coupon or upgrade path for owners... But I use mine all the time with few problems or issues.

Herr Zigmont

Thanks Zigmont. You're right there i no reason to switch to the P7100. My P7000 even fall down and has a noticable crack in the back screen ... but works perfectly.
Good Nikon product.

Cheers

Great shots--my favorite is the tortoise, and the stairs remind me of an MC Escher print.

I just bought a P7000 after the price came down in the US. Although I realize very well that it is the photographer who 'makes' a good photograph, it's nice to see confirmation of what the camera is capable of. Thanks.

Thanks LooseNikon. I think the P7000 is one of the best point and shoot cameras I have had. Long years I used the LX3, which produced really high quality images and so I was a little bit concered about the much more heavier P7000, but I like the dials on top and the over all behaviour, as well as the good exposure. Have fun with the P7000!

You could have posted those 5 years from now, and it wouldn't have been too late- very nice images and great processing!!

Hi Martin,
Great images. The one of the stairs is my favourite.
Why "too late" ???

Please keep on posting such interesting images, even in ten years, if your trusty P7000 is still working (and I'm pretty sure it will !).

My daughter still uses my old Minolta A2, which I bought in 2004, and is still working fine!

Thanks andrbar,

will post some more soon. The P7000 works fine, even it felt down some time ago

and a part of the backscreen got broken. Really robust piece. The only thing I'm missing is the rotatable screen of the P7100, but all other things are fine.
Well done Nikon!

To answer your question: no! It's never too late for great photos. Nor is it ever too late for a good camera.

In the latter case, that's what I'm hoping -- since at current pricing, I just ordered one.

Hi Tim39,

don't know what it's about with the P7000 (and maybe the P7100), but it is a camera I have been using very often. I have had other point-and-shoot cameras before (LX3 for example), but this one is a little bit heavier and bulkier ... and therefore you can hold it better. I like the dials too, as it gives a little bit of DSLR like feeling. Have fun with your new camera!
