X-10 - on the way back. Now what ?

Dont be silly ratty , Fuji dont make them. :)
Well Paul said Fuji is repairing the X10's so they must have something to replace the defective sensor with. Perhaps they are buying some Sony sensors and putting them in?

'Bass-ackward' does not equate to 'superior'.

You never know but its likely another bloomer :(

Anyway , glad you are on the mend and back in the forum :)

and how about a new Fujifilm slogan .

"The X series of Digital Cameras - They're Blooming good"

Orber yours soon before they disappear in a flash"
"Order an X10 AND an XS-1 and we'll send you a pair of bloomers!"

Or buy a samsung EX1 and never need to buy another camera later.
:-) With its 24mm f1.8 lens, the Samsung has pretty much everything the X10 has except the OVF, it even has a classy and classic look about it, Its one of the most overlooked cameras in the market. I paid £140 for mine, what a bargain.
An easy $200 (USD) cheaper than the X10... no orbs... fully articulated LCD... it looks like a steal - and an easy choice. The biggest failing IMO is that it doesn't allow control over NR in JPG's but I'd shoot RAW anyhow.

It's styling may not be quite as 'classic' but as someone else said, when you look at the photos, you don't know what the camera looked like.

(Unless you see orbs.)

Rambler made a 'Classic' too, once...

Sure, but for me the NEX Kit Zoom is nowhere close to my Canon glass.

Frankly, I'm not even a huge fan of APS-C. My preferred choice would be a full frame system and a dingle good compact.

But your Canon L lenses don't fit in any pocket.

Sure, but FF don't fit in a pocket either. The OP wants a high quality camera that he can put in his coat pocket. I think that the best IQ in a smallish camera comes from the Sony NEX cameras. Amazingly enough, I paid as much for the NEX C3 with double kit lenses as for the X10.

May have been better value.

Rumours of its demise have been exorbitant. And wrong.

i have an EP1 anld a stack of Olympus FT kit. You cannot take low light pictures without flash that equal the X10's with any FT camera because of sensor noise which starts to be noticeable at ISOs above 400 on the DSLRs and 250 on MFT cameras, the EPL3 and the E5 are both a cut above the rest but with a lens as bright as the X10's you'll be paying out a lot more.

They are also about 20% bigger than the X10 and not a comfortable fit in pockets. The GX-1 is bigger. In fact the GX-1 is very similar in size to an E620 DSLR when it's wearing a pancake.

The new OM-D and a deal with Sony might make life very difficult for Fuji's new IL Xnn cameras so Fuji fans who want the X10 to flop are being very, very shortsighted.

Fuji have a dreadfully over extended range of products atm. They are absolutely depending on the success of the X10.

Well then i think they are screwed because i cant see the X10 coming back from this terrible fault issue , its gonna be too little............... too late im afraid.

Just hope it's better than the P7000, which got tranced by the S95 (now replaced by the s100) and DMC-L5 (probably replaced too), following is a quote

"Even after the recent firmware update, the P7000 is simply too underpowered for a camera of this type, at this pricepoint, in this day and age"

Can you post your examples ?, I presume it's happened more than one in the 'real world'

Hehe the price of an X10 is down to £399 now at a certain store... i think camera shops are panicking !! :)
What "Certian" store is that then??? The P7100 is now down over 20% to £395 (Park Cameras), maybe not selling due to bad review on P7000 on this very site.

Don't know his store, but it's currently new from £415.78 at Amazon UK, and used from £395.00.

My figure includes their partner retailers for new cameras.

And £20 or so is not a killer difference.

That's a bit harsh, the X10 is worth £150 of any mans money, I mean the battery alone must be £39 and it fits in the F200EXR. :)

Paul.

P7100 rates the same as the G12 in most reviews and the G12 is still a good camera in this day and age.
