some pix from a weekend wedding shoot

Okay,

Since no one asked... What lenses did you use?
Who says you can't shoot a wedding with a D60??? (It wasn't even my
D60! :-) )

Comments welcome!

Wayne,

Both of these shots were taken with a borrowed D60 and a 17-35mm f/2.8 L lens. During the wedding I also used a 28-135 IS lens (now sold, replaced with a 28-70 f/2.8 L for the next wedding) and a 70-200 f/2.8 L.

The reason I used the borrowed D60 and 17-35 L was that they belong to the groom, who only got both a few days before the wedding, and decided he wanted the extra resolution for the "main" photographer pix. (The 17-35 is also a little wider than the 20mm f/2.8 prime that I usually use). I normally use a D30, which was in the hands of the second photographer for the wedding.

Since the handling of the D60 and D30 are so similar (they are basically the same camera), I agreed to use his camera. It is not something that I would do with a camera that I am not familiar with... no matter how good a friend he is! :-)

I haven't heard anyone say that. "But I have selective hearing"

I have been using my D60 for candid and creative work since I received it in May for my weddings. I use the 28-70 2.8L, 85 1.8, and 70-200 2.8L and love using them all.

Do you find 2 - 256MB cards enough? I usually fill 1-1/2 1 gig Microdrives.

Take a look

Yup, I thought so! I have the '60 and the 17-35L. I got that lens because I have in the back of my mind I might like to shoot weddings now and then. I remember from the few I shot 15 or so years ago how nice my 28mm lens was and with the 1.6, this was close.

Good Shots!

Mark,

I have one 1 Gig Microdrive and two 512 MB CF cards, as well as an old 192MB CF card (for Justin... Justin Case! :-) ). I don't have any 256 MB cards, and wouldn't buy anything smaller than a 512 MB card these days...

How did you convert the pix to B&W?? The color in both looks
diffrent.
Scott,

The close-up of the flowers and rings was intentionally done with a slight sepia tone, to give it a little mood. Since the photos will be used in different parts of the album, the other photo was just converted to B&W.

The rings and flowers also work quite well in straight B&W BTW, I just thought that the sepia worked better! :-)

Thanks Gene! You have quite a nice gallery there, too!

It's funny how great minds think alike! I am in the market for the 1D at the moment as well... :-)

... not to mention your ideas on why digital is so good don't differ from mine a great deal :-)))

Nice work Rudi! We shoot weddings with the D30, D60 and we just
got a 1D for next season. Some of our stuff is posted here:
