hi all,

just purchased a reconditioned 5dii and 24-105mm kit from Canon in UK

the price is pretty good (£1,599 - it would have been £2,094 new)

The lens looks new, or at least kept in mint condition

The camera is good, some tiny hairline scratches on rear screen, a few on top screen.

EOSinfo tells me there are 4225 actuations. I was a bit shocked as I thought most of these cameras were 14 day returns.

I am wondering what this cameras life was. Was it a Canon demo camera ? or was it a 3 month customer return (is this even possible) ?

What do you guys think. Is 4225 a large number for this type of camera ?

Should I accept it ?

The pictures seem fine.

thanks in advance

Not sure where you bought it from, but I've had several things from the canon outlet on ebay here in the UK. Cameras I have bought came with zero or less than ten actuations and a full canon 12 months warranty.
Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Dennis.

Hi

I bought a 5Dii (body only) from Canon Oulet on ebay refurbished. I arrived with 550 actuations - this I considered acceptable as I assumed they were cameras returned ina short time frame from new. Mine went on to develop a fairly major fault after about 6 weeks - the fault I am assuming it originally suffered from hence the return. I imagine it was an intermitent fault (to give the engineers the benefit of the doubt).
Canon service were excellent with it returned in less than a week.

I suppose, consumer law being what it is in the UK it is conceivable that a camera could be swapped by Canon up to a year old. Likewise, some people 'go potty' with a new camera and knock out 2k+ shots in a few days.

More acutuations than most of us would like on a 'new' camera but not a huge amount in the greater scheme of things.

Like others have said, enjoy the camera (great price by the way) and feel satisfied you have a years warranty - and two if you quote EU law at them!!

Phil.
