I FINALLY upgraded from my K100d and can finally participate in SDM 'debates!!

Luckily it looks just like a K-7 so nobody will know the difference. Now sell the K-7 for $400 and it is a really good deal.

I, too, am a long-time lurker that has posted little due to my inexperience. But thanks to reading daily, I just saw this message and happily ordered the K-5 from Samys for $750.

They are out of stock but expect to ship in 2 to 3 weeks. I was assured that I would receive the camera at this price.

I also inquired about the Pentax warranty which is not listed in their inventory. The salesman, who was quite helpful, said he will inquire about getting the extended Pentax warranty and notify me if it becomes available.

Whew! Hard to believe I ordered it since I just saw the $300 rebate has been extended to March 31, 2012 and was waiting to get the money saved up, but can't pass up this price. I am so excited.

I got my first Pentax camera a K20D two and a half years ago, and bought a used K-7 last spring. I'll send my K20D for cleaning now and then sell it, though it has been a great camera, I can't keep three!

I have liked many of the features on the K-7, but what I have seen of the increased dynamic range and high ISO capability convinced me to upgrade again.

I was entirely new to SLR cameras so it has been a long learning curve which is why I read daily but still don't think I have good enough images to post.

I do want to take this opportunity to thank all the experienced and helpful members on this forum for their knowledge and many wonderful images.

I will post when my camera arrives for sure!

Has anybody dealt with them in the past?

Site says to call to order - can't order online. I wonder if it's actually in stock. I have a feeling they'd tell me "yes" either way.

This piece of information surprises me, as Samy's caters to the high end professional and serious amateur crowds in Los Angeles. Their store is amazing--not quite up to the B&H level--but very impressive.

Sammy's is great. I've been to two of their locations in Southern California. Very professional and helpful staff.

I suspect there is some shenanigans going on with the ratings ;-)

They are the best camera stores in Southern California. I have made many great purchases there. First rate.

That is very surprising! I didn't even think to check resellerratings.com because of mu great experiences with them. I've been to three Samy's locations (they're a Southen Californinan camera chain) and great service every time. I wonder why they have a low reseller rating--if you look closely the ratings are extremely polarized ratings--1/5 and 5/5. Makes me suspect a bit of "electoral fraud." I'm not too worried, though.

I normally buy all my photography gear locally, (San Diego-Nelson Photo) but Pentax is difficult to find as it is, and $750 was an offer I couldn't refuse.

Yes in another hobby I just bought an item from Guitar Center which also has either 1/5 or 5/5 ratings (and, latterly, mostly 1/5). But my item arrived safe and sound and quickly. So, I am wondering if Resellerratings is being tainted by shills who are just trying to hurt the reputation of various companies.
