I got a hold of the a65 a few weeks ago when it was not available in the states from a source from Hong Kong. I love it. It's been working great except for one issue.

In certain circumstances the video produces a wavy pattern. Kind of like what you might see on a CRT monitor with a really slow refresh rate. It is particularly noticeable in macro, particularly in shadows. It is seen on the LCD, in the digital viewfinder, and it is recorded in video.

I have tried all the possible settings that might make a difference, and the firmware is the latest.

Bad camera???

What ISO settings? does it change if you drop the ISO?

Using really high iso settings can cause this in video (and preview), though the SLTs seem to be limited at 1600 for video so I wouldn't think that would be the problem...

I would also like to see a sample if you can post the clip anywhere.

Any LED panel/display/array that is either dimmed or driven as a matrix. No workaround hat I know of. My $6000 PMW-EX1R pro video camera does exactly the same as the A77 in that regard.

That's due to the rolling shutter used on CMOS sensors. The sensor is read line by line, and as the the LEDs actually flash... when some lines are read the LED's are on, and for others they're off. That's what creates those waves.

If your light is dimmable, try setting it to max power, if it's correctly designed it should then be powered continuously.
