Hi all,

I recently bought the 18-200 movie pro lens. I haven't tried it out much yet but I am posting a few shots I took on my 1st outing.

I mostly chose the lens over the much cheaper 50-200 as I do like taking some small films of theatre type events so the silent and fast motor appealed a lot, and it fits in ok with my 20-50 stock & 30mm pancake. I also plan on the 16mm to round things out.

It is fast and silent, and when I upgrade to the nx20 (hopefully - may have to be nx200 if waits to long) it looks like it will be fantastic for video. With the NX100 it is good but there is occassional stutter in the camera occassionally.
Does anyone else have this lens - tips, thoughts etc welcome.

Anyway here are some still images I took - free hand with IOS on.

Where these shots hand held and considering the price of the lens do you think it's worth the money .

yes they were hand held, also pretty much default settings.

As to the cost - very subjective. I was visiting the US and got it there so was considerably less than in the UK. As I was particularly interested in a zoom and the movies I'd say definitly. If it was mainly for the zoom I have not used the 50-200 zoom so very hard to say if there is any benefit over that except for the fact that it manages a larger range but probably no.

For an all purpose tourist type lens I love it, and the fast caf is very nice indeed & works as advertised.

It is rather heavy - again not sure in comparison - and would feel better on a larger body

many thanks for your reply keep the photos coming .

Quality seems very good for a lens with such a range. Seems like a good investment if you have the money.

I was patiently waiting for some user review of that lens as I am interested in it's performance, let's say compared to 20-50. If it is similar to that lens probably I will go for it at some point. There are 2 reviews at amazon.de - one not good, and one 4 stars so I don't know. Current price in EU is like 500-525 EUR at the moment.

Can you, if possible, compare it to the 20-50mm at some point? I need overall quality comparison. Thanks :)

I will try to but time's at a premium at the moment
