I have been using auto hdr on my a77 and wonder why the camera ends up with two photos. I thought it would take three exposures and merge them into one photo. Why then do I have two images each time?

if you spend $1400 on a camera, you should really read your manual

page 141: 2 images are recorded: an image with the correct exposure and an overlaid image.

I believe the question was answered in a direct and proper manner by the previous post without trying to cause the one asking the question to feel stupid. We all at times do things that make ourselves feel rather silly without any one else making it worse.

My whole point was to remind the OP that the manual would've answered the question. Also to remind him to read the manual as it could resolve future questions without having to post a question to the forum.

Maybe I sounded rude and I apologize but I feel that answering the question directly is not sufficient but directing the OP to the source is a better resolution.

Do we constantly need questions on the forum that can easily be answered by reading the manual?

you can keep spoon feeding people answers, but point them to the right direction for possible future questions is more useful IMO

One can read that manual, which i have, now reading a book on the a55 as the book for a77 is not out and i am still learning about the camera after shooting for about a month and a half and about 1000 images. many of you have been shooting digital for years and pick up the nuances of the camera quickly, then there are some of us (me included) who have not shot digial and the a77 is my first real camera. I appreciate the people on the board who have tutored me along the way with out making me feel like a moron. i think all of us, should speak clearly and without flaming a innocent question.

If you have memorized the entire manual on the A77 then my hat is off to you! I thought this forum was for education, not looking down your nose at people. I was taught that there are no stupid questions but sometimes stupid smart a** answers.

I believe there is a feature called "SEARCH" that you can use on the PDF manual that you can download from Sony's website

You should know when you ask a question here, you are going to get some helpful answers and then the inevitable rude and insulting answer.

+1 ten times over!

If the above reply only stated to read the manual then it would have been rude.

But 6132expd was also providing the answer and the source to the question, so he wasn't just rude, he was helpful as well.

I often refer folks to a page in the manual on a question like this and I am certainly not trying to be rude or smart a##.

Maybe I'm just old and forgetful but things stick with me better if I see it in my manual rather than here in the forum. Not that the forum isn't a great help because I've learned a lot of things here.

I think all of us tend to go off halfcocked at times and that on both sides of the fence.
Relax and go shoot some great pictures!

Not meaning to hijack the thread, but is there a way to take multiple exposures of a pic like I used to be able to do with 7D and then stitch them together with a program like HDR pro? I miss being able to tweet the HDR photos to my liking rather than having to use a77's HDR default setting? thanks

If everyone read the manual, we would have 75% fewer posts and since there would be less activity in the forums, people wouldn't come here as often.

What we all need is Gary F's A77 book...

Come on Gary, you have a captive audience here... ;-)
