How can they call it a "pro" camera when it has slow autofocus? What kind of professional use would this camera be appropriate for? It doesn't have huge resolution or full frame so it won't be ideal for landscapes. It certainly won't be ideal for action. It probably won't be ideal for low light either, though of course those things remain to be seen. I'm just not sure what kind of professional use this camera would be appropriate for, compared to say a M9-P, a NEX-7, an A77, or a full frame DSLR. like D4/1DX. It's a very nice, stylish camera but it seems like more of a rich enthusiast type camera, for people who like using older rangefinder-style controls.

"Much faster AF" compared to X100
"The point AF is absolutely super fast" I assume she means center point.
"CDAF has been severely upgraded"

This is the Fuji rep speaking.

Who cares what they call it? The Leica M9 is $7000 and doesn't even have AF...

I'm starting to sound like a broken record here... ;)

You are confused. Not only the Leica is a FF system, which still has huge advantages even with an old poor sensor, the Leica have proper manual focus.
With the X Pro 1 there is no option for good focus, auto or manual.

They must be counting on folks who have been doing the manual focus thing in the 80s....

Cheers!

...as they'd be in their 50-60 or older = good side that this usually
means deeper pocked, bad side is that their eyesight will not be
excellent, and yet... there is no diopter adjustment on XP1:

I think I can trust a Fuji rep, seeing as how they have no vested interest in whether or not I purchase the camera...oh wait...

Promising, actually.

http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/11/fujifilm-x-pro1-interchangeable-lens-camera-preview-video/

At the bottom right after the video they say:

"Update: We tested the autofocus system in a variety of lighting scenarios, and it performed equally well in both bright and low light, achieving focus in less than a second every time. We were only able to evaluate focus on-screen, however, since we were not permitted to take away the images we shot with the X-Pro1 prototype."

Yes, but right now that is all we have until it gets tested. If you have some better information please post it.

Your sarcastic remarks have no validity. So you're saying not to rely on one fuji rep, but do indeed rely on another one?

The article states:

"The camera’s one drawback, and Fuji has told us that this will be the case on the production models, is that the autofocus isn’t going to be as snappy as it is on other cameras."

I really don't understand the need for such lightning fast, the most fastest, etc. focusing blah blah blah.

So long as this focuses well, not the best, and doesn't hunt, I'll be elated. The x100 was my first Fuji and I'm a fan of their IQ.

People are so consumed with bs. The art of picture taking is dead.

I the Vietnamese video, the live view freezes during the time camera is acquiering focus.
Is that the same behavior X100 has?

Looks troubling to me...
Slow CPU, sensor readout?

You just don't get it. The M9 is full-frame and a true range-finder camera. This makes it unique in this day and age of fancy point and shoots with interchangeable lenses.

My food rocessor is called pro and I cant imagine any pro using, the LG TV is "smart" and there is lot of cars with sport in the name.

For fuji this is PRO camera and also the price will mostly be for somebody who thinks his pictures are more pro than just snapshots.

I think it is nameed apropriatelly, it certainly is miles and miles above any of the fuji EXR compacts and it is above x100 too.

Ever heard of Leica M body OVF coupling with M lenses?

They called in fuji x1 PRO. They had to mention the word PRO to make sure pros understand it is for them. Not sure they really do indeed. lol
