Hi
I have an S100 and noticed the LCD screen has a green tint to to.
I took a pure white image, copied it to 2 SD cards.
Placed one in a G12 and the other in the S100.
Preview the image. G12 screen nice and white. S100 green!

Just looked at an S100 in Jessops and that's green too.

Anyone else have this ?

Nothing of the sort with mine.

Try taking your sunglasses off...Actually, I just compared my G10 to my s100 and they look about the same except at default settings the s100 is brighter, probably because of the F2 lens compared to F2.8. I heard that the s100 has scratch proof glass like gorilla glass so maybe that makes some difference?

I have noticed the same very annoying yellow-green tint on my S100 LCD (especially compared side by side with my S95). The tint is not on the picture itself when viewed on a computer but clearly on the screen of the camera. A firmware update may correct that, but I have already sent my S100 back to the store... and buy a Fuji X10 !

Just a question to others S100 owners : Are we only two guys who have this very noticeable issue or is it more frequent but nobody cares ?

Thanks.

Good luck with the X10 Orbs :(

Many high end optical devices have an anti-reflective coating that can appear in some light as a greenish tinge. Does not affect photos, just makes for better pics in fact.

I noticed it when taking fall foliage pictures with a lot of orange/yellow in the scene. When I looked at the scene with my eye, and then looked at the LCD display, it was noticeable. Otherwise I wouldn't have noticed it.

Thanks. But I have no regrets even if the the two cameras can not be compared : weight, size, look, handling, technical features... I had Canon Powershots since the G7 to the G12 and S90 to S100. I loved the S95, but the S100 is not such a great change compared to the S95. I've tried it for 2 weeks. Nothing really new, plus the green tint issue and a strange tendency to overexpose and difficulty to focus in low light, so I decided to send it back and buy the Fuji for a real change... And the orbs issue is barely noticeable for the kind of picture I took. Sorry...

Still not found any examples in shops that look right.

Can anyone that has an S100 without the green screen, say roughly what part of the world, and when it was purchased.

So far i've looked in the U.S. and U.K.

Thanks.

Mine doesn't look as green as your example on the right, but it certainly is not as pink as the example on the left. But then, I don't use my LCD to assess the color balance of an image. I shoot in RAW (main reason I bought the s100) and use the LCD to check the histogram. If the histogram is okay the image is okay.

I have just bought an S100 to upgrade my S95 in Hong Kong as they are very well priced here. This has a green tinted LCD which in comparison to my S95 is very pronounced as that has a very subtle pink tint as a lot of those do. But that pint tint is so minimal that I never new it was there until I was doing side by side comparisons with the two cameras. I took the camera back to the store and asked them to look at it, and also to compare it to shop stock. The result was interesting. The shop model in the case used as display when powered up was much more neutral than my camera. In fact I would say that it was about as green as my S95 is pink. That is to say ever so slightly not to worry about. My own new S100 however looks like it's constantly filming the Matrix movies here in Hong Kong as it is grey, cloudy and dark with glare. A lot of shots do not have that much colour because of the light. Combine that with the amazing buildings here and it makes a pretty tech style photo session complete with a futuristic movie green gel over the whole thing. Not at all visible when the photos are transferred on to the computer however.

So I have taken it to the local service agent with a complaint of a green tinted LCD and shown them all the online information on the subject and they are looking at it now. So I will see how this turns out. They were not interested in looking at any cases or examples online and would have a technician look at the camera. I suppose test it and or repair it.

Canon "Delighting You Always" - lets hope they do.

Your description of the Matrix is a perfect description how my LCD looks as well. Really disappointing, because I waited in hope Canon would clear up some of these quality issues with newer manufactured units.

That's what I get for rushing to a conclusion. My cam was still set for tungsten causing everything to look greenish blue on this unusually drab day in Florida.

With that being said, the LCD does still exhibit a subtle green hue compared to that of my Panasonic camera's LCD. At this point I don't think it's an issue... As it is more to adjusting to something different. I'll know more as I become familiar with this cam.
