Joe is a really nice guy and is unlikely to 'dis' anyone but himself. But he wouldn't lie for a sponsor. If Joe says it is good, you can take it to the bank.Yeah, I love his work, but you're right, he is sponsored by Nikon. Don't 'dis' the sponsor.
Well, Thom Hogan takes care of the 'tell it like it is' part at bythom.comWhat we need are reviewers like the Brits on the car show Top Gear (not the American guys), but for cameras instead. Now that would be fun, plus they'd tell it as it is.
Precisely its difficult to take that kind of review serious. Any producer of anything know that that kind of commercials are far more effective than oldschool advertising. Everyone will have their gards more down. With all due respect to Mr. McNally, he's essentially sponsored by Nikon. What else would he say? He's not going to criticize their latest and greatest.
They are very close to the form factor of SD cards - smaller than the CF cards. Sony just announced some today.I'd never even heard of XQD memory cards until I read the D4 announcement on here this morning. Having checked them out on the net I notice they seem to have the same form factor as compact flash
Due to smaller size, the XQD slot would not accommodate a CF card. Perhaps we will see an adapter to fit a XQD card inside a CF shell (like there is for an SD card-CF shell). Odds are, its speed would be limited to CF capabilities.which leads me to wonder, can the XQD slot on the D4 also accept cf cards? I suspect not, but a thought..
And those two shots are great, no doubt, he's a master of lighting.Nikon-sponsored or not, I'd take the words and reviews of someone with impeccable credentials as Joe's anytime.
Exactly.Nikon-sponsored or not, I'd take the words and reviews of someone with impeccable credentials as Joe's

Just to dispel a misconception - Joe McNally is NOT sponsored by Nikon. He pays retail for every bit of Nikon he gets (he buys from Adorama, for what it's worth). Nikon is just one of his many clients that hire him for jobs, nothing more. With all due respect to Mr. McNally, he's essentially sponsored by Nikon. What else would he say? He's not going to criticize their latest and greatest.
I'm trying to imagine what the photographic equivalent would be to power-drifting a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. ;-)Yeah, I love his work, but you're right, he is sponsored by Nikon. Don't 'dis' the sponsor.

taking pictures of the aforementioned power drift with a D4 and 200/2? maybe if nikon made a special kevlar/titanium version of that camera and lens...I'm trying to imagine what the photographic equivalent would be to power-drifting a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. ;-)
