Loving my X10

The X10 really is an amazing camera, it might not have all that horse power of a, let's say Nex 5 (which I had and sold), but the truth is that there is something special about Fuji cams. Always wondered why Fuji cam owners were always so passionate about them and now I'm starting to get the feeling.

I just hope that they will "fix" the max shutter speed of 1/1000 in Aperture mode, it really annoys me sometimes.

Just wanted to share a quick snap I took yesterday at the restaurant.

Cheers,

Elias

Well done on your new acquisition... :)
Any chance of posting the original color version of the same photo, please?

ps If you see someone without a smile on, give him one of yours... :)

It's just because of the leaf shutter made with the iris blades

open full aperture at 1/100 is already very very fast fort these shutters
when in manual you put 1/4000 at full aperture,

in fact, you don't have full aperture, the blades don't have the time to open completly
and you get a shot similar as if it was shooted at f4-5.6, and not 2-2.8

beautiful picture
;)

Very nice frame Elias, the woman's wonderful expression stays the focus of attention and you did her features justice – great stuff. Kindest regards. :)

I still don't regret purchasing my X10, but the orb thing can really cause some frustration at times.

The sun was only partially visible, around 40% and I got an nice round orb instead. Also taken the same shot using DR400/Iso 400 and the result was the same. I'll be well happy in case Fuji is able to fix it.

Cheers,

Elias

Amazing that a $600 camera cant take a shot of a sunset. Just amazing.

Actually, it's a sunrise :).

Some will argue that I should have used different settings like iso or aperture, etc, but that doesn't change the fact that this is a real issue with the camera.
No, your settings were fine. The lowest ISO gives you the best quality image and a shot like this deserves such. Any other camera would be fine with the settings that you used.
Let's wait a couple of weeks and see what we get.
It's going to be more like a couple of months. X100 users are waiting for a firmware update promised loooong ago.

Well it can (sunrise here as well).

Of course I won't argue with you that there is a serious WD-problem. But it is not a major thing/hangup for me when considering what I enjoy with the X10. For others it is. Looking forward to the FW-update though.

That's a very nice pic, but the sun is slightly hidden behind the trees, it's not exactly the same situation.

But you're right, I wouldn't trade my X10 for any other camera currently in the market.

I just wish that rattymouse will go away -he does not own any of these cameras , he should comment on what ever camera he has not the ones he wishes to own?

Why not use a split ND filter to even up the exposure between sky and land. with proper technique, the "orb" thing will be a lot less. A similar thing would happen to most DSLRs also.

I'm sorry to say that when I went searching for the anti-orb solution I tried using a nd filter...the orbs were still present, maybe diminished a little but not enough to justify the effort or the added SSpeed.

Ratty, find a hole, crawl into it, and find a way to get a real life.

This is a public forum where EVERYONE can post as they wish, as long as the rules are maintained. So you better get used to my being here. On the other hand, there is an ignore function which you can use so that you can never see my posts again. Why you do not use that function remains a mystery.

It has been claimed and some have tried to prove that the same thing happens to other cameras, dslr's included, and nobody has yet succeeded in demonstrating that any other camera besides the XS-1 and one very old Casio can make orbs.

Since you're fond of forum rules, how about this one:

"No Bashing - Deliberately and repeatedly bashing the same brand, product or company will get you banned. If you have a complaint or comment to make then make it once and make sure you have facts to support it."

Rattymouse I sent you a pm so we could have a civil discussion and I get your hate on the X10 for said reasons whether they are fair or not but would just like to hear your thoughts on alternatives without starting another flamewar and such.
