nice shooting and i liked the monarch fact also. i didn't know the migration happened that way. i suspect the first shot may not be a monarch. i'll post again if i can figure out in my book what it is.

Thanks Bruno, the tattered butterfly didn't seem bothered at all, fluttering around like nothing was wrong. These guys are truly tough, I suppose you would have to be if you can fly across the Atlantic! The two images are excellent caption to your narrative, Yuki.. looking at the two guys one can see the "generation gap", LOL.. have you noticed all the splendor of the young butterfly (second image) in comparison with the first one, who is all worn out, the beautiful trimming pattern of the wings gone.. this most certainly is proving your story to be right.. good job, thanks for posting. Thank you for running the first macro thread of 2012.
Best regards,

Very nice series nemesix, you can really see the effect of the frost on the poor flower! We occasionally get frost here in So Cal, and my rubber tree loses all the leaves when it happens.Living in North Florida, some years we get freezing temperatures during the winter, some years we don't. Last night we got a (for us) pretty bad freeze, down to 26F. We covered our flower bushes with blankets but they picked a poor time to bloom...
Happy New Year to you too Cristian, I guess we will know a year from nowHave a Happy New Year, the controversial 2012![]()
