So far I'm very happy with my Sd15, no problems, much faster than the Sd14.

Now I bought to old lenses, a 90mm macro Tamron and a 50mm 1.4 Revuenon (Tomioka). First impression is very good, all manuel of course.

I will post some results soon.

Best of luck with your new 'Toys'. Some of these old lenses are really pretty good if you can take the time with them, tend to have very shallow focus and tricky on SD15 but they seem really good for low CA.

Have fun,

Cheers.

Crikey Jan. Lenses from España! :-P

Ohhh .... Ahhhh .... Eeeee .... I seeee you meant manuAl. Silly me!

As a point of interest, when I got my SD9 (when first appeared and still working well too) I got the older film camera lenses, the 15-30EX and the 24-70EX full frame coverage - still using those on the SD9 and the later SD14. Superb performers. Would not change them, even though they have increased the size of my biceps somewhat!

Some weeks ago I bought an old Tomioka lens.
I am very pleased with the results.
Contrast seems quite low.
It has a certain unexplainable look.

Nice stuff, Jan. Have a whole range of old Tamron Adaptalls myself and quite a bit of East German and Russian gear. Surprisingly nice lenses, these old barrels :).

To be honnest, not every lens is good, even the CZ older lenses, not that sharp and a lot of CA. This Tomioka lens is excellent, and a have a Tamron 90mm macro which is also very good.

True, some of these lenses can be totally and utterly useless and some can turn out to be real gems. And there's quite a bit of sample variation, too. Quality control wasn't really that much of an issue in some of these factories :).

But if you're lucky and you get for instance an "Aus Jena 1.8/50mm." that did get put together with the appropriate level of care and attention, you have a lovely sharp piece of glass.

I have 2 Olympus OM lenses I love very much (Zuiko 50 mm 1,8 and 28 mm 2,8), but I can not find any adapter for my SD15.
Does anybody know if it is possible to mount an OM lens on a Sigma ?

I live in Tokyo, and second hand camera shops sell a lot of legacy lenses for really affordable prices. If I want to buy one of those, what kind of lens can I buy which will not need an adaptor?
Thanks.

Its certainly possible to use OM lenses on later Sigma DSLR's without having to convert them to SA mount...Via one of Luis's fully reversable OM mount swap kits for the SD14, SD15 and SD1:

http://www.sigmacumlaude.com/sd14-om/sd14-om.aspx

However, if thats too expensive for you and converting lenses to SA mount is not an option, then its probably best you restrict yourself to looking for M42 mount, Pentax K mount and Nikon mount lenses instead.

You can use Nikon mount lenses via the Roxsen Nikon-M42 adapter plus an M42-SA adapter...You wont be able to reach infinity focus, but thats not a problem for macros with Micro Nikkors and in fact the latter adapter combo actually gives you greater macro magnification.

Using a Teleconverter as well can greatly increase the usable focus range of all Nikon lenses fitted via the latter adapter combo.

Pentax lenses usually have two parts protruding from the rear of their K mount, the metal AA lever and the plastic or Aluminium AA protector outcrop...Simply cut off or otherwise remove these two parts so the rear of their mount is flush and they will fit straight onto the SA mount with no feed for further conversion. Tin snips are perfect for cutting off the metal AA lever and the protector outcrop is usually part of the bezel ring (the tight fitting plastic or Aluminium shroud that keeps dust out of the rear of the lens.). Bezel rings can easily be removed, usually with a tiny posidrive screwdriver, and simply left off the lens, or you can simply slice the outcrop off with a sharp craft knife (Stanley etc) so you can keep the bezel ring on the lens.

Thanks very much.

I tried one of my Pentax lenses on my SD15 and it hits the hot mirror if you try to focus to infinity. It hits at about 6 foot focus distance. ( I am glad that I was being very careful)
