NEX: Still testing in the evening

WOW! That 70-200mm lens looks HUGE on your camera! I can only imagine how my Nikon 80-400mm VR lens would have looked on it.

Actually, I made a major decision and sold all my Nikon gear. I really haven't used it much, since finding the Panasonics (LX3 and LX5). Also, I have carpal-tunnel syndrome on both wrists/thumbs and the that heavy gear was getting to be a chore to lug around. I'm glad I'm no longer doing weddings, with the weight of all that medium format gear I used to use.

I don't do any really back country hiking/climbing anymore or overseas travel, so the build (waterproofing/shock proofing) is not quite as important to me now. Although, the build quality of the NEX-7 is supposed to be fairly heavy-duty, at least in the opinions of many users.

I eventually want to buy the NEX macro lens and maybe the Sony 50mm f/1.8 lens, but I ran out of money this time around. I would also like to have a wider angle lens, if Sony decides to build one for the E-mount.

The NEX system will be definitely easier on the wrists and probably on the back as well. When I carry around my NEX gear & carbon fiber tripod, they're very lightweight and my back feels much better at the end of the session(s) :D

The E-mount 50mm f/1.8 is on my list and hopefully some fast, compact zooms in the near future.

I'm definitely looking forward to less back strain. I once hiked down into the Grand Canyon, carrying a LowePro camera backpack, loaded with two Nikon F5 cameras, 5 or 6 lenses and a flash unit. I also had a heavy-duty Gitzo tripod lashed onto the back of the pack. Wasn't too bad going down, but the trip back up was a killer!

I don't want to EVER see those days again!
