Calibrating Thunderbolt Display?

I just got a new Thunderbolt display.

What is the best way to calibrate it for print output? I currently use an Epson 3800 with Photoshop. I like to be able to soft-proof files on my screen with reasonable accuracy.

In the past, I've used 3rd party software and hardware devices for this purpose. Is the onboard Mac OS display calibration worth the effort, or can you recommend a 3rd party calibration product?

Thank you.

For accurate output hardware profiling is the only option. I'd recommend the X-rite Colormunki. Not only will it calibrate your display, it will also calibrate your printer. Giving you all you need for accurate output. And it does so for a very good price.

Hi,

Thank you for your suggestion.

But this product gets some pretty mixed reviews on Amazon.com. I'm also a little concerned because it looks like it's been out for a while (since 2008?) and I don't want to buy something that may go unsupported in the near term.

Do you or does anyone else have any other product recommendations?

Thank you.
