Just got the new macro and so far I love it for what I do, food enthusiast photography. It allows me to get whatever is on my plate in focus while filling up the frame. 30mm is a touch too long in some instances and I have to either push the plate or my chair back to get the shot, but it's way better than the 16mm and having to crop pics after.

Below are some shots from my first few meals out, all shot as jpg, no PP or cropping;

nice shots now, l'm really hungry

Yum. Look forward to more.

Gotta ask, what is the white stuff in the center of the first image?

Shaved ice?

Saw similar one at the local Taiwan desert cafe which seems to pop up every where in Sydney

Been thinking getting this 30mm f3.5 macro, has anyone prefer if sony can make E-mount 30mm f2.8 instead? Almost all macro lenses have f 2.8 right? WHY SONY? WHY?

it's "snowice"

instead of ice (water) they use either frozen cream or condensed milk and then shave it. this was black sesame flavored. great unique texture. this was in Los Angeles.

and f3.5 is fast enough with almost too narrow a depth of field. i had to step down past 5 for sushi, else i'm just focusing on 1/8th"
