Challenge of challenges: what do I get? ;)

I don't remember how I voted, but I know a few of your 5's were much lower for me. I think I had 2 or 3 5's.

You did not cast any 4.5 votes??? :P
I am math challenged, always had problems with fractions. :D

Actually, I wasn't sure how to vote, finally I divided photos into 5 categories. The last one did not turn out to have many entries, though. I wonder how many people do reason through a 10-category split for each photo they vote?

I am quite happy with my voting, 5 from my 6 five star favorites belong to the five best.
However, there are also very surprising placements , e.g. 80th or 100th.

Don't know how to show my voting, hope the link works.

WOW! You voted just like me. :) Just kidding, the link takes people to their votes, not yours. You did much better then I did.

I got 1st & 2nd correct.

It's of interest to note that if the owl image did not have the black background and feather pp'd in (I assume they were), it would not have won its own challenge, let alone placing 2nd in the final.

Well I got 1st correct and six out of the top 10 correct. Then I was all over the shop, just goes to show how subjective voting is.
But I was happy to get an image in the final top 100 and 54th place! :)

Did you get like me somewhat? Is there something wrong here, I don't get it.

I vote according to what I would hang on my wall. Only the mesa arch and king fisher images would make it of the images shown.

It's also interesting to note that the entry in 10th place wouldn't have won it's Challemge if the Host had done his job and not completely changed the Challenge part way through . . .

"High Speed Photography challenge."

Shutter speed: 5/2 sec

. . . hardly "capturing images with a remarkably quick shutter speed" but never mind . . it's all in the past.

Lets look forward to more cheating in 2012 ;)

I voted very dilligently and the challenge of challenges says I voted on only 98 of 100 entries.
So nothing for me apparently. :(

Good cyclists are:
Visible, Predictable, Alert, Assertive and Courteous

They also use the five layers of protection available.
Layer 1: Control your bike (Don't fall or collide with others)
Layer 2: Follow the rules (Don't be the cause of traffic crashes)
Layer 3: Use Lane position (Discourage other drivers mistakes)
Layer 4: Hazard Avoidance (Avoid other drivers mistakes and road hazards)
Layer 5: Utilize passive protection (Use protection when all else fails)

I was not intimating that the owl entry was not appropriate. I gave it 5 stars. I checked the challenge it was originally entered in and it said no restrictions on post prossesing. My only point was the potentials of pp making an ordinary image extraordinary.

Ups, neither did any of us.
My fault I didn't delete your quotation, sorry.

I got curious to go and see how my own votes fared... but according to the page I only voted on one entry! That is not correct. Not only that but I supposedly gave this one entry only One Star. Never happen -- it was a very good photo and I give very few one stars. A photo has to be pretty bad for me to give a One. Now I'm sorry I voted (thought I voted) at all. It makes me look like some kind of nasty person who have it in for one photo so I go vote it a One and don't vote for any others.

Between that and the other problem we had awhile back with being unable to vote, I think I'm going to have to cut way down on the amount of challenges I vote in.

If you voted 5 stars for those hundred shots, the website woulda still line everything up from one o a hundred, as if you had perfectly predicted the results.
I would say you're further from the results than you think or seem to be saying.

I have yet to see a loser averaging less than 1.0 stars. I've only seen 1 winner ever achieving above 4.0. All of my votes are between 1.5 and 3.5 stars. 4 stars is reserved for my projected winner. To vote 5 stars and then expecting to win the voting prize is unstrategic.

That said I didn't manage to vote on all of them, but only on 28 entries.
Who cares, the prize was nothing to shout about.
Voting is still a pain on the iPad.
Dpreview is still not iPad friendly.
Maybe they will do something before next Christmas.
Well, I did get the top three, a bit off on others. I guess I am not a perfect voter. ;)

Wanted to add this but got timed out.

Why are iPad users not getting full support from dpreview.com..
No outsiders really know.... That's a fact.

I've complained since a year ago that the website is not optimized for iPad users.
Why?

Let's analyze the facts

Fact no.1:
Amazon.com owns dpreview.com

Fact no.2:
Amazon has a tablet which is competing with iPad
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amazon_Kindle

What happens next?

When would it be strategic for dpreview.com to provide full support to iPad users in terms of optimization of website?
1. When Amazon no longer produce Kindle or other iPad like tablets
2. When dpreview.com is no longer tied to Amazon.com

Doesn't take a genius...

I think you are a little off the mark with your reasoning . . .

Re-working all the Flash to HTML5 is probably not a simple task and is not high priority to cater for 5% ? of users who are using an iPad to vote . . .

It takes DPR a week to fix the voting when it goes wrong . . . give them another year or two to wake up to HTML5
