I was looking for a recommendation of a backpack -- currently I have a sling bag, but for all day activities, its a little rough on the shoulder.

I was seeing if anyone has any recommendations for a backpack that can hold my D7000 with kit lens, SB700 and a camcorder. I have a few kids so I usually take some waters and snacks in my bag as well -- so I am kind of looking for a general purpose backpack that will keep the camera equipment safe.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Take a look at the Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW.

Not sure of the model/style, but I also have a Lowepro that I'm really happy with.

I have a few Crumplers of varying sizes for regular bags, but for the backpack ended up with Lowepro, after much "bleeding." :)

You might want to look at the Think Tank backpacks.

i bought the StreetWalker HardDrive, since I wanted to be able to carry 2 D90's with attached lenses.

You might want to check out the Tamrac Adventure line.
I have an Adventure 9, it's split into two sections.

The bottom half is the camera section, and it holds my D90 with 70-300 attached along with a couple spare lenses, an SB600 and misc. filters and cleaning supplies.

The top half has plenty of room for a light jacket and some snacks, or what ever you might need. There are stretch mesh pockets on each side for water bottles and you can attach a tripod to the bottom with optional straps.

Buy the Amazon back pack,It is wonderful.

Lowepro CompuPrimus.

Pros: Good suspension. I like the fact that the zipper is on the "inside" of the pack, not the outside, lowering possibility of theft in touristy type places (someone walking up behind you and opening your pack).

Room for snacks and such on top. I have even placed a Camelbak in the laptop area on occasion, good mix.

Cons: Pricey.

I would recommend Lowepro Rover AW II.
I have had mine for a couple of years now so there maybe a newer model.
I bought it to carry my camera equip. when I take my Boy Scouts hiking.
The bottom is made to hold the camera & extras. The top is like a regular pack.

The one I have even has a attached ran cover that stores away when you do not need it.
